Warframe has officially announced its release date on Nintendo Switch 2. Developed and published by Digital Extremes, the free-to-play online multiplayer shooter will celebrate 13 years since its debut on PC in March this year. By 2019, Warframe had nearly 50 million registered players and continued its growth by debuting on new platforms and consoles. Players’ continued interest in this title has also led to the creation of a convention dedicated to it, TennoCon, where upcoming features and updates to the game have been announced for almost 10 years.
Over the years, Warframe has received major updates that introduced various features to the game and expanded its story. These included additional missions, limited-time and seasonal events, and new gameplay modes, accompanied by regular additions of new Warframes and weapons. The latest expansion, The Old Peace, was released in December last year and added a new cinematic quest along with smaller elements that enhance the players’ experience. However, even then, Digital Extremes pointed out that the update was only part of its plans for the further development of Warframe in the near future, and that fans could expect more exciting announcements in 2026.

Warframe Officially Coming to Switch 2
Responding to the expectations of its fans, Warframe has officially announced its debut on Nintendo Switch 2. The iconic third-person shooter game will be available on Switch 2 from March 25. The developers also announced important features that will accompany the release, such as a target frame rate set at 60FPS and a target resolution of 1080p in docked and handheld modes, which will result in faster loading times, higher resolution textures, and better shader quality. The game will also include Joy-Con 2 mouse support to make it easier to navigate menus and improve weapon aiming.
The game’s debut on Nintendo Switch 2 will also be accompanied by new content, which will be available to players who log into the game between March 25 and April 15. The exclusive Ambimanus Pack will include, among other things, the Vericres Warfan weapon, the Akomeogi Warfan weapon skin, the Slicing Feathers Stance Mod, and Affinity/Credit boosters. The launch will also be accompanied by the premiere of Warframe‘s new standalone expansion titled The Shadowgrapher, which will be available to players on all platforms also from March 25. It will include, among other things, new cosmetic Mod variants known as Atragraphs, new Follie’s Hunt game mode, as well as the introduction of a new Warframe and their abilities.
Along with technical changes ranging from graphics to smoothness through the use of the controller’s capabilities, Switch 2 players can expect a better experience enriched with additional content that expands the story and gameplay. Since Warframe is one of several Switch 1 titles whose compatibility issues with Switch 2 were fixed at the end of last year, players who own Nintendo’s latest console can expect to see more and more older titles making their debut there.
Warframe fans seem to be excited about 2026, as it promises to be a time of abundant news and events related to the game. The developers have already announced plans to celebrate Warframe‘s anniversary, which include a special Anniversary Event starting on March 13 and promising many rewards such as new merch, a Community Contest, and a special giveaway. This year also marks the 10th anniversary of Tennocon, for which tickets are already sold out. Taking all this into account, fans of this Digital Extremes’ production can expect further announcements regarding its continued development and significant updates planned for it.
