A new analysis of Call of Duty: Warzone weapon statistics has identified several early frontrunners for close-range and long-range combat following the Modern Warfare 4 integration. With Call of Duty: Warzone welcoming dozens of new weapons, players are already looking for the strongest loadout combinations as the competitive meta takes shape.
Warzone Season 1 launched on November 6, bringing full Modern Warfare 4 integration to the free-to-play battle royale. The update introduced all 33 of the game’s launch weapons, additional Season 1 armaments, new Apex attachments, and several gameplay adjustments that could significantly affect weapon balance. Along with the new Hajin Battle Royale and Zodiac Resurgence maps, these additions give players plenty of reasons to reconsider their loadouts. While the new season is still in its earliest stages, one community-driven analysis has already highlighted some particularly promising weapons that fans may want to consider.
A new analysis shared by CODMunity on Twitter reveals that MW4‘s Cronen Osprey is currently the strongest long-range weapon when considering both time-to-kill (TTK) and controllability. The team reached this conclusion by examining base weapon and attachment statistics and comparing how quickly each gun can eliminate an opponent using its EaseScore, a metric that measures how manageable its recoil is. Interestingly, the Cronen Osprey reportedly ranks just seventh in raw TTK but climbs to first place when ease of use is factored into the equation. The Patriot XMR, for example, can eliminate enemies faster at close range, but its damage falls off around 40 meters, and its substantial recoil makes it much more difficult to control, subsequently dropping its spot in the rankings.
The M4 takes second place in CODMunity’s long-range rankings, offering slightly faster killing speeds than the Osprey at shorter distances while remaining relatively easy to handle. However, the Osprey maintains a narrow overall advantage thanks to its combination of accuracy and consistent performance across longer engagements. CODMunity recommends using high-velocity ammunition with the Osprey, although players struggling with recoil can substitute the FSS Fireline Grip for greater stability. According to the analysis, this adjustment preserves the weapon’s TTK up to approximately 65 meters, making it a potentially worthwhile tradeoff.
Best Warzone Guns After the Modern Warfare 4 Integration
- Best Long-Range Gun: Cronen Osprey
- Long-Range Alternative: M4
- Best Close-Range Gun: VEL 46 (VEL 46 Snap)
- Fast-ADS Alternative: ISO Nightshade
- High-Fire-Rate Alternative: PPSh-41
For close-range encounters, the VEL 46 equipped with its VEL 46 Snap Apex attachment is what players may want to start using. CODMunity’s analysis identifies the MW4 SMG as having the fastest TTK across the distances tested in its close-range comparison, along with the quickest sprint-to-fire speed among the evaluated meta weapons. This combination makes it particularly effective for aggressive players who frequently engage enemies around corners or inside buildings. However, several alternatives remain competitive, including the ISO Nightshade, which boasts exceptionally fast aim-down-sights speed, and the PPSh-41, which offers an extremely high rate of fire.
Based on these findings, pairing the Cronen Osprey or M4 with the VEL 46 could provide one of Warzone‘s strongest early loadout combinations, giving players reliable options for engagements at virtually any distance. Still, the rankings represent an initial assessment of the Modern Warfare 4 integration meta rather than a definitive picture of the season’s competitive landscape. Raven Software has already confirmed that it will continue monitoring weapon performance and player feedback, with further balancing adjustments planned throughout the season. As more players experiment with the expanded arsenal and new attachments, the current frontrunners could face considerable competition in the weeks ahead.
