Warzone Players Want One Major Feature to Fix Black Ops Royale

Warzone Players Want One Major Feature to Fix Black Ops Royale

Call of Duty: Warzone developer Raven Software has just launched the highly anticipated Black Ops Royale mode, which pays homage to Blackout, the original Call of Duty Battle Royale. While the mode incorporates some of the best parts of Blackout into Call of Duty: Warzone, it also comes with a new map: Avalon. Unfortunately, as Avalon is larger than Verdansk, players are requesting that Raven Software up the lobby size from 100 to 150, as, in its current state, Black Ops Royale is “boring.”

Black Ops Royale launched shortly after the release of Call of Duty‘s big Season 2 Reloaded update, which brought tons of new content to both Black Ops 7 and its free-to-play counterpart, Warzone. Multiplayer fans now have five fresh maps to check out, three of which are returning classics from past entries in the series. There’s also a new Scorestreak, new weapons, and much more. As for Zombies fans, Treyarch Studios has cooked up another new map for players to check out: Paradox Junction. The new round-based map takes place on multiple variants of Nuketown and also introduces a new special enemy type, the Rad-Hound.

Warzone Fans Want 150 Players Per Black Ops Royale Lobby

Despite tons of content being added to Call of Duty, the biggest addition for Season 2 Reloaded is, undoubtedly, the debut of Warzone‘s new Black Ops Royale game mode. Unfortunately, it looks like players are already blasting the return of Blackout as “boring” and “ridiculous” due to the lack of action. Not everyone is used to the lack of Loadouts and Gulag, but the main feature most players want to see changed quickly is the lobby size, with many calling for developer Raven Software to up the player count from 100 to 150 per match. This is largely due to the size of the map, meaning players aren’t encountering enemies as often as they would on Verdansk, Warzone‘s standard Battle Royale map.

“Avalon is massive. 100 players barely scratches the surface. It needs at least 150+,” one Warzone player said, while another said that the mode is “boring.” However, not everyone seems to agree, as many have also pointed out that Black Ops Royale is supposed to be a completely different experience from the traditional Warzone Battle Royale. “It’s supposed to be slower, they are trying to bring back/retain new players to a Battle Royale type environment. Make it 150 and 75% of regular players won’t have time to even get anything together before they are killed and uninstall,” one player pointed out.

Twitter user COD Warfare also seemingly agrees that the lobby size needs to be increased, saying, “100 players isn’t enough for this map…. Just spent the first part of the game driving around looking for a fight and then found bots.” The addition of bots in Warzone‘s Black Ops Royale also sparked backlash just hours before the mode was due to launch, as Raven Software announced it was testing the addition in select regions, including Europe and the Middle East. The developer said it will gauge the success of the test based on data and player feedback, but the latter has already been massively negative, with fans saying they have “0 satisfaction” in playing against AI.

Another massive disappointment players have with the mode is the lack of available squad sizes in Black Ops Royale. As of writing, it is only possible to queue up in Quads, as Solos, Duos, and Trios are completely unavailable. A statement from Raven Software did attempt to clarify this decision by stating that it needs to focus on understanding how players feel about the core experience before expanding the matchmaking options. As for why the team chose Quads and not any of the other squad sizes, the studio says that this has been the most popular choice across all other Warzone modes.
