What to Expect From Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.5

What to Expect From Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.5

Final Fantasy 14 is gearing up for Patch 7.5, “Trail to the Heavens.” Dawntrail is finally wrapping up, as this final major update heralds the end of the expansion’s story and content. This means the next Final Fantasy 14 expansion is nearly on the horizon, with its official reveal expected to take place during the first Final Fantasy 14 Fan Festival 2026 on April 24.

For those unfamiliar with Final Fantasy 14’s development cycle, Patch x.5s tend to be big ones. Indeed, Patch 7.5 will actually be split into four parts:

  • Patch 7.5 – April 28
  • Patch 7.51 – Early June
  • Patch 7.55 – Late July
  • Patch 7.56 – Early September

This massive update and its subsequent mini-patches will take players through most of 2026, likely before the next FF14 expansion release late this year or in early 2027. Here’s what fans can expect in these upcoming updates.

Final Fantasy 14 Unveils One Last Event Before Patch 7.5

Final Fantasy 14 players looking for something to do before Patch 7.5 arrives will soon have a new event to participate in.

Everything Coming in Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.5

Wrapping Up the Stories of Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail

During the Main Scenario Quests in Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.4, players saw the Ascian Halmarut and the former Preservation leader Calyx speaking of a cryptic doom coming to the shards of Etheirys due to the “silence left behind by the will of the star.” The first section of Patch 7.5 MSQ will pick up where 7.4 left off, and start building towards the next expansion. Fans may learn more about the interdimensional key, the mysterious “Winterers,” and whatever calamity Halmarut and Calyx were talking about.

During the Main Scenario, players will encounter a new dungeon and trial. The dungeon, called The Clyteum, appears to be a frozen, abandoned city full of skyscrapers. Though it looks like Garlemald, it may be a new location from one of the other shards of Etheirys. The trial, on the other hand, is against Enuo, a frightening necromancer with Void-like tentacles and skeletons hanging from his belt. Enuo appeared in Final Fantasy 5 as the final boss of the optional Sealed Temple dungeon, and now, he will be making his Final Fantasy 14 debut.

The third and final chapter of the Final Fantasy 11 alliance raid series, Echoes of Vana’diel, also arrives in this update in the form of Windurst: The Third Walk. Inspired by the region of the same name from Vana’diel, fans will see the lands of the Tarutaru Federation, and will cross paths with the iconic Black Mage, Shantotto. This raid and its subsequent quests will wrap up the story of the Final Fantasy 11 crossover.

New Limited Job: Beastmaster

One of the most highly anticipated aspects of Patch 7.5 is the Beastmaster, Final Fantasy 14’s second limited job. This class wields a one-handed axe, but their true strength is in the creatures they tame. There will be 50 different beasts to capture at launch, three of which can be summoned in battle at a time. With three size categories and two abilities for each beast, players can mix and match their creatures to create unique loadouts. The Beastmaster starts at level 1, and will have a max level of 50.

Like the Blue Mage, the original limited job, Beastmaster is being designed for solo play primarily, meaning it cannot participate in the following types of content:

  • Duty Roulette
  • Main Scenario Quests
  • Deep Dungeons
  • Variant/Criterion Dungeons
  • PvP
  • Field Operations
  • Ultimate Raids
  • Stone, Sky, Sea
  • Hall of the Novice
  • Trust/Duty Support
  • Command Missions
  • Retainer Jobs

That said, Beastmasters will be able to enter most other duties with other players in preformed or unrestricted parties. They also gain more experience from slaying enemies in the open world of Final Fantasy 14, and can access a special endgame activity called the Crucible of the Unbroken. Though it fills a similar role to the Blue Mage’s Masked Carnivale, it will feature a different structure and progression system. Specifics will be revealed closer to release, but a teaser image suggested a branching ladder with potential roguelike elements.

It is currently unclear if Beastmaster will arrive in Patch 7.5 or one of its subsequent updates, but it is coming before the next expansion. Unfortunately, the development time that went into Beastmaster means there was not enough time to update Blue Mage until after Dawntrail.

Ultimate Raids, PvP, Housing, and More

Several other major features are coming in the Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.5 update, either on April 28 or shortly after:

  • New Ultimate raid a few weeks after Patch 7.5

    • Will be revealed at FanFest on April 24
  • Faux Hollows: Shinru’s Domain (Unreal)
  • New Crystalline Conflict PvP map: Archeia Harmonias
  • New PvP series and season
  • Housing updates

    • 50% more indoor furnishing placement capacity
    • 100% more outdoor furnishing placement capacity
  • Armoire will store all job gear and 7.x dungeon gear
  • Most dyes will be consolidated into three types

    • Type A: 85 basic dyes from 2.x patches
    • Type B: 9 dyes from Ishgardian Restoration
    • Type C: 11 dyes from Cosmic Exploration
    • Excludes dyes from the online store
  • Duty Support expansion

    • Dusk Vigil
    • Shisui of the Violet Tides

Inconceivably Further Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail Story Conclusions

The exact contents of the subsequent updates are still uncertain, but many of the features that will be found there are. For starters, the second and final part of the “Trail to the Heavens” MSQ arrives in Patch 7.56. This will be the narrative bridge between Dawntrail and the next expansion, and will lead directly into it.

The conclusion of the Inconceivably Further Hildibrand Adventures storyline is also on the way, wrapping up the hijinks of the Gentleman Inspector and his Alexandrian counterpart, Hardiboiled. Additionally, the intersocietal questline for the Dawntrail will be available for those who have completed the Pelupelu, Yok Huy, and Mamool Ja Allied Society storylines from Final Fantasy 14. These quests will likely arrive in Patch 7.55 or 7.56.

Lastly, the Occult Crescent Field Operation in Final Fantasy 14 is getting a new zone called North Horn, and a large-scale raid called The Forked Tower: Magic. Dragoon, Ninja, Summoner, Necromancer, and Black, White, Blue, and Red Mage Phantom Jobs, Phantom Weapons and Armor upgrades, and a finale to the Occult Crescent storyline will become available when it arrives, likely in Patch 7.51 or 7.55.

Crafting, Gathering, and Minigames Galore

For Disciples of the Hand and Land, there are plenty of things to look forward to as well. First and foremost, the fourth Cosmic Exploration planet in Final Fantasy 14, Auxesia, will likely arrive in Patch 7.51, including the final upgrade step for the crafting and gathering relic tools for Dawntrail.

Additionally, fans can expect a set of Final Fantasy 14 Custom Deliveries with Tiisol-Ja, proprietress of Aunt Tii’s Tacos, plus a new Ocean Fishing route in Thavnair. It is unclear which subsequent patch they will be in, but they will likely not be a part of 7.5 itself.

A new type of multiplayer game is also coming to the Gold Saucer in the Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.5x series. Gamers will see a full reveal of this mini-game during the first Fan Festival.

More info about Patch 7.5 and its subsequent updates will arrive during the next Letter from the Producer LIVE and FanFest. While there isn’t an exact date for the next broadcast, it will likely happen around April 17 – one week before FanFest, and two weeks before Patch 7.5’s launch.
