Where to Buy A PS5, PS5 Pro, Or PS Portal Before The Prices Go Up This Week

Sony is once again raising the price of the PlayStation 5, PS5 Pro, and PS Portal hardware, and consumers are rushing to purchase the console (or trade theirs in for a better model) before this price increase goes into effect on April 2. Now, gaming retailer GameStop has entered the fray, looking to connect players with Sony’s hardware before the price goes up for good.

“We heard the news,” GameStop shared in a recent post on X. “On April 2, 2026, Sony will raise the price of the PlayStation 5 Pro to $899.99. We’re here to help. GameStop stores nationwide are now offering extra credit on all hardware, so whether you’re trading in a base PS5 for a PS5 Pro or dusting off an old console, now’s your chance to beat the change and upgrade for less.”

GameStop followed up with another post advertising its upgrade program. “Upgrade to a PS5 Pro now for just $349,” the post reads. “While you still can.” A look at the fine print clarifies that this deal is only available to GameStop Pro members. GameStop’s loyalty program offers a number of benefits (like extra credit on trade-ins), but membership costs $25 per year.

Still, it seems all PS5 models are selling like hotcakes in anticipation of the price increase. On GameStop’s website, a brand-new PS5 Pro is still available for $750, but the price for a refurbished or pre-owned model is a bit more expensive at $807.49. However, the best deal we’ve seen is for the PS5 Digital Edition Fortnite Bundle, which is down to $400 (was $500) where available. GameStop’s PS5 trade-in deal is valid through April 2–the same day Sony’s price increase takes effect (Sony presumably chose the date to make it clear that this is not an April Fool’s joke), though with how popular we expect the PS5 Slim, PS5 Pro, and PS Portal to be, it’s possible they could sell out even before the price hikes. For reference, here’s how much the prices for the PS5 Slim, Pro, and PS Portal are increasing starting April 2:

  • PS5 Slim Disc Edition — $550 -> $650
  • PS5 Slim Digital Edition — $500 -> $600
  • PS5 Pro — $750 -> $900
  • PS Portal — $200 -> $250

PlayStation Hardware at GameStop (Prices Valid Until April 2)

  • PS5 Slim Disc Edition — $550
  • PS5 Slim Disc Edition – Ghost of Yotei Gold Limited Edition Bundle — $600
  • PS5 Slim Digital Edition — $500
  • PS5 Slim Digital Edition – Fortnite Flowering Chaos Bundle — $400 ($500)
  • PS5 Pro — $750
  • PS Portal — $200
  • PS5 Disc Drive Add-on — $80

Where Else to Find PlayStation Hardware Before the Price Increases

While GameStop’s trade-in deal means you stand to save the most by shopping there (assuming you’re trading in a previous model to take advantage of the increased trade-in value), the PS5, PS5 Pro, and PS Portal are also in stock and available at their current, pre-April 2 prices at numerous other retailers like Amazon, PlayStation Direct, and more. We’ve rounded up all the places PlayStation 5 hardware is in stock in the links below–just note that, like with GameStop, these listings could sell out before prices increase on April 2.

PlayStation Direct

One of the best options for grabbing a PS5, PS5 Pro, or PS Portal before the new prices take effect is from Sony’s official online store, PlayStation Direct. Not only can you grab the consoles at their current prices, but you can also snag a deal on certified refurbished models, which save you up to $100 on the console (which means they’re $200 cheaper than what they’ll cost after April 2) and are a helpful backup option if new models sell out.
