Where To Preorder Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2

Where To Preorder Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2

Nearly three years on since the first Metal Gear Solid Master Collection, Konami is finally bringing a second batch of Metal Gear titles to console and PC with the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2. The new collection will include Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and the HD remaster version of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker–both of which serve as important entries in the main Metal Gear storyline–as well as the non-canonical (but still awesome) Game Boy Color spin-off, Metal Gear: Ghost Babel. This marks the first time Metal Gear Solid 4 has been available outside its original PS3 release. The package will also include a bunch of bonus archival materials to check out. Fans will be able to pick up the Metal Gear Master Collection Volume 2 for PS5, Switch, Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC when it launches on August 27. Physical edition preorders are available for $50 at online retailers. Preordering ahead of launch ensures you’ll receive the limited Day One Edition of the game, which includes some bonus in-game items.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 Preorder Bonuses

Preordering the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 gets you the Day One Edition of the game. This is essentially the standard edition of the game with a few extras, including the Cardboard Camouflage in-game costume for Metal Gear Solid 4, and the Love Box Uniform for Peace Walker. Physical copies also have a unique banner on the cover art denoting it’s the Day One Edition.

Along with the preorder bonuses, players who have Master Collection Vol. 1 save data on their system will also be able to unlock gold camo outfits for Snake in both Peace Walker and Metal Gear Solid 4.

While the first volume was an exciting nostalgia trip when it was announced, the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 is arguably even bigger news, as the games it includes are some of the hardest to track down on modern systems.

As mentioned above, before now, Metal Gear Solid 4 was exclsuive to the PS3 since 2008 and 2000’s Ghost Babel was exclsuive to the Game Boy Color. Peace Walker, first launched on PSP in 2010 and saw an HD port a few years later on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC, but that version was delisted for several years–in other word, this is the first time many players will be able to buy and own these games on modern systems. And that’s great news, since Metal Gear Solid 4 acts as the finale to the series, wrapping up the stories of Solid Snake, Liquid Snake, and Big Boss.

Peace Walker, meanwhile, is an important chapter in the life of Big Boss, taking place between Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (which was included as part of the first Master Collection), and Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain. Its mission-based structure, online multiplayer, and Mother Base building mechanics were unique at the time, and served as the basis for Metal Gear Solid V’s gameplay.

The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 versions of both games will feature enhanced visuals and gameplay tweaks, and Peace Walker will also offer online multiplayer, making Peace Walker’s robust online content playable on official servers for the first time since the HD re-release was delisted from digital storefronts.
