Why The Official Look Has Fans Worried

After years of waiting and several delays and setbacks, GTA6 is finally ready to come out in just a few months, and after a nearly 30-minute in-game reveal, we have a lot more info about the kind of game Rockstar has been cooking for the last decade. However, as great as the graphics look and as exciting as the launch will be, there are still some valid concerns that people have regarding the game ahead of launch.

A Second GTA 6 Release is Basically Confirmed for 2027

Based on everything announced so far, it seems clear that Grand Theft Auto 6 will get a second even more ‘dangerous’ release in 2027.

Because the showcase was taken directly from a PS5, it becomes much harder to excuse many of the issues present, especially those that cannot be fixed within a couple of patches. The online community has expressed concerns about the missions, gameplay, characters, and even the visuals, but only time will tell if these troubles turn out to be nothing more than minor nitpicks.

Similar Mission Style

We’ve Seen It All Before

Details:

  • Basic collection structure that has become tiresome
  • Unclear how missions tie into the wider world

Missions form the bulk of the gameplay in any GTA game, and while we don’t know the details about exactly what we will be doing in the latest installment, it does feel as though the formula hasn’t evolved too much. From the gameplay shown so far, the same point A to point B loop seems to be present once again, and although there are some nice driving scenes in between, there isn’t much more to get excited about thus far.

Comparing it to the GTA5 gameplay trailer, where we had skyscraper sniping and much more explosive action, this latest reveal has far fewer moments that really blow you away. I will say, Rockstar may be saving the best bits for the actual launch, yet if your 30-minute advertisement feels more like a few basic sequences of walking and driving, then the hype train is a lot trickier to get behind.

Performance

Beautiful Graphics, Lackluster Frames

Details:

  • 30 FPS on the base PS5 at launch
  • Higher performance may be patched in later

Video game performance is the eternal topic that seems to crop up in virtually every single new release, and for a game as big as GTA6, the question of how well it will run could not be more important. You have a giant open world full of high-fidelity visuals and a large number of individual NPCs and effects, so the optimization needs to be stellar for the game to feel as good as it looks.

Retailer is Refusing to Sell Grand Theft Auto 6

At least one retailer is refusing to sell copies of Grand Theft Auto 6 when the game launches later this year.

Right now, we know the game will target 30 FPS at launch, and that is for the base PS5, which, for a modern 2026 title, sounds rough. The Pro may push things a bit further, but I do worry that, despite Rockstar’s magical optimization track record with Red Dead Redemption 2,performance on the Series S and for the eventual PC launch may end up being a nightmare.

Realism

It Is A Game After All

Details:

  • Objects moving unnaturally
  • Realism falls apart when particles behave strangely

GTA has long been a way for many people to escape the real world and become lost in a fictional city where virtually everything is possible. That sentiment remains true with 6, and so it is important that the game feels believable enough to play, as well as looking as close to reality as possible.

The visual side of things seems top-notch across the board, yet many people pointed out some strange physics and animations within the trailer. Fabrics move before being touched, cans appear in hands, and explosive effects fizzle away into nothingness, which can be excused due to it being a video game, but as these issues stack up, your immersion is going to quickly fade away.

Gameplay

Is It Just Another Rockstar Game?

Details:

  • Concerns about the change to sprinting
  • Gameplay may be polished but not innovative

Rockstar’s gameplay has had its fair share of criticisms over the years. Red Dead Redemption 2 may be considered one of the greatest games of all time, but the gameplay segments can leave a lot to be desired, and the rest of their catalog also has its fair share of issues when it comes to movement, combat, and exploration.

10 Details You Probably Missed in the GTA 6 Extended Look

GTA 6’s Extended Look was packed with small details, hidden mechanics, and easy-to-miss moments that reveal even more about Leonida.

GTA6 is looking to make major changes to how we shoot and drive around the world, and there are even modifications being made to something as basic as sprinting. However, aside from some crisper bullets, numerous players say the game looks pretty much identical to the previous one from a gameplay perspective, which could be seen as a good or a bad thing, but I would certainly lean toward the latter.

Jason

One Half Of The Game’s Story

  • gta 6's jason holding a pistol while trying to enter an aircraft and flee the crime scene.Image via Rockstar Games
  • a close-up shot of jason duval one of the protagonists in gta 6.Image via Rockstar Games

Details:

  • Lines seem a bit bland in writing
  • Personality is still a bit unknown

The protagonists are crucial to a GTA game’s success, as they give you someone to focus on during the story and a reason to keep on playing for dozens of hours. It doesn’t matter if your favorite is Niko, CJ, Trevor, or Tommy; who you play as is arguably just as crucial as the wider gameplay and world.

In GTA6, we are getting a dual protagonist setup, with Lucia already being universally praised, while Jason seems to have pulled the short end of the stick. We might have only seen and heard a few scenes out of hundreds, but his personality seems a bit flat, and the trailer didn’t really build interest in his character. Hopefully, that changes after launch as we get to know him more.

Still No Multiplayer/PC News

A Whole Playerbase Eagerly Waiting

Details:

  • Console launch prioritized
  • Multiplayer gameplay may still be a long way off

The ugly elephant in the room, since the very first trailers for GTA6, is the lack of multiplayer and PC info. GTA Online was a monumental force in the gaming world, and the PC community was ginormous, covering everything from mods to role-playing servers, yet now, just a couple of months before launch, there is absolutely no word about either.

When it comes to launching a game on every platform, there are obviously complicated hurdles that need to be crossed, especially when you consider how different people’s PC setups can be compared to a series of standard consoles. However, there are so many PC players who would love to jump in on day one and are rightfully upset by the radio silence; even if the launch is still far off, a little bit of insight could go a long way.
