Grand Theft Auto 6 has received a dozen new official screenshots, shared alongside a variety of insights revealing previously unreported gameplay details about the upcoming game. The development marks the latest step in Rockstar’s ramped-up launch marketing campaign, which is now entering its final stretch with GTA 6 just three weeks from release.
The material was revealed on October 29, a date that had already been singled out as likely to bring more GTA 6 news, based on Rockstar’s established patterns. It comes from the November 2026 issue of Edge and is based on a roughly 90-minute session in which Rockstar North co-studio head and head of development Rob Nelson played a current development build of the game and answered some journalist questions.
New GTA 6 Screenshots Show Huge Environment Variety and More
The Edge feature includes 14 Rockstar-provided images, 12 of which are brand-new. The screenshots showcase a broad cross-section of GTA 6‘s environments, ranging from Vice City’s dense waterfront skyline and neon-lit nightlife to small-town streets, trailer parks, industrial outskirts, swamps, and other rural stretches of Leonida. One image even ventures underwater, showing a hammerhead shark swimming through a coral-lined passage. Rockstar has already confirmed that GTA 6 will feature diving, but while sharing only a few limited looks at the game’s underwater environments.
Jason and Lucia’s Relationship Will Be Tracked on a 4-Point Scale
The new images arrive alongside more GTA 6 gameplay insights from Nelson, who clarified how much control players will have over Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos throughout the game. Their relationship is tracked on a four-point scale that can increase through shared activities, with the Rockstar official confirming that players will also have some influence over how intimate it becomes. He outright refused to comment on whether the pair will be able to get married, immediately prompting early fan theories that marriage could become a plot point. Separately from the relationship system, the game tracks a Criminal Profile ranging from Professional to Irredeemable, with Rockstar saying player behavior can affect how Jason and Lucia’s story unfolds.
On that note, player choice will also feed more directly into progression. Some story jobs require Jason and Lucia to raise money first, with options including gas-station robberies, jewelry store heists, and stealing requested vehicles for fences, all familiar GTA activities. Preparation also extends to equipment and transportation: the player’s arsenal is stored in a vehicle trunk, owned cars can be summoned through Scooter Bros, and vehicles track both fuel and engine condition. Rockstar has already said that the choice of getaway car and access to weapons will play a larger role in crime preparation, but these new details offer a clearer picture of how those systems will work in practice.
GTA 6’s World Reacts to Players in More Ways Than Ever Before
Leonida also has rideable bus and train systems, while Nelson said Rockstar has expanded how police, pedestrians, and the environment react to events. Police can retain identifiers including clothing, appearance, weapons, vehicles, and CCTV exposure, allowing players to limit what authorities know by changing or discarding some of them. NPC reactions vary based on traits such as aggression, while localized weather can affect roads, water, aircraft, and pedestrian behavior, increasing overlap between otherwise separate systems. Finally, Nelson reiterated his confidence that GTA 6 will hit its latest release date, telling Edge the game is “ready.”
