World of Warcraft is bringing back the adorable Dog from Mists of Pandaria once again in The War Within – but this time, as a full-fledged companion pet. Nearly 12 years after first meeting him, and eight years after his last appearance, World of Warcraft players can finally bring Dog with them on all of their adventures.
Back in Mists of Pandaria, World of Warcraft fans could get a dog on their Tillers Farm. Aptly named Dog, the critter stole the hearts of players with his special interactions with certain emotes. In Warlords of Draenor, he followed WoW fans to their Garrisons, and Legion allowed them to relocate their faithful pet to the new version of Dalaran, where he has stayed ever since.

World of Warcraft Update Makes Adorable Change to One Mount and Fixes Frustrating Bugs
World of Warcraft’s latest hotfix gives one beloved mount a minor feature designed to make players fall in love with him even more.
However, with Dalaran in danger in World of Warcraft: The War Within, many fans worried about their trusty canine companion. Luckily, considering his appearance in the Collections tab in The War Within alpha, Dog not only avoids any disastrous fate in the expansion but actually becomes a companion pet that can accompany players on their journeys as the Faithful Dog. It isn’t known exactly how one unlocks this pet yet, but it is a safe bet that one may need to unlock him on their farms, bring them to the Garrison, and then relocate it to Legion Dalaran in order to do so.
The History of Dog in World of Warcraft
- Dog first appeared in Mists of Pandaria, where he comes to the Tillers Farm after completing the Lost and Lonely quest.
- The critter gained popularity because he responds to emotes like /pet, /love, and /kiss.
- Players who have Dog in Mists of Pandaria can find him at their Garrison in World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor.
- By finding a hidden pebble in Legion Dalaran and giving it to Dog at the Garrison, he can find his way to the floating city, where he stays with Breanni at her pet shop.
- In The War Within, fans can finally bring Dog with them as a companion pet.
Fans will have another opportunity to meet Dog for the first time in World of Warcraft Remix: Mists of Pandaria. Players will be able to experience all the expansion’s content at an accelerated rate, ostensibly letting them invite Dog to their Tillers Farm all over again.
Cat lovers need not fear, for World of Warcraft: The War Within has plenty of content for them as well. In addition to the adorable giant lynxes players can find, pet, and collect as mounts and companions in Hallowfall, World of Warcraft fans can pick up chubby cats scattered around Dornogal. It seems like World of Warcraft: The War Within has something in it for everyone, regardless of whether they are a dog or cat person.
