WoW Devs Confirm Paladins Are A “Dad Class”

World of Warcraft has plenty of classes for players to choose from, but according to the game’s senior game designer, Josh Greenfield, there’s one class that has earned a very specific reputation.

Speaking to GameSpot at BlizzCon, Greenfield and senior art director Jeff Parrott discussed their favorite and most-played classes. While Parrott confirmed that his is Hunter, Greenfield’s infamous inclination toward the Paladin was discussed a little more in depth.

He said that the Paladin is “certainly” a dad class, adding, “You know, I’m not a dad, I’m a dog dad, but I’ve got the dad bod, so Paladin is totally a dad class.” So, straight from a World of Warcraft developer: Paladin is officially a dad class.

His choice certainly fits the stereotype, since Paladins are heavily armored, can heal their allies, protect their party, and generally have the sort of dependable, responsible toolkit you’d expect from the class entrusted with keeping everyone else alive while still dealing impressive damage.

Of course, being a Paladin isn’t actually restricted to dads, but if you’ve ever encountered a Paladin player who seems particularly enthusiastic about keeping the party organized, now you know why. It’s only a matter of time before Paladins start asking to take care of everyone’s passport in the departure lounge.

World of Warcraft Forever launches November 4, with a playable beta going live on September 17.
