WoW: Midnight's Silvermoon City Remake Is A Hit, And Players Want More

World of Warcraft’s Midnight expansion is live now for Epic Edition owners and soon to be available to everyone else, and if there’s one thing the community appears to be in agreement on, it’s that Blizzard nailed its revamp of Silvermoon City and the Blood Elf lands of Eversong.

Those who opted to spend more on the Epic Edition have been able to put the expansion’s new zones and story through its paces over the weekend. A quick glance at the WoW subreddit or other WoW community sites shows there are, of course, a wide variety of opinions on Midnight’s story, characters, and voice acting.

There is, however, one aspect of the expansion the community seems to have found some consensus on: the new Silvermoon City is a hit. Blizzard completely reimagined the Blood Elf capital city of Silvermoon and its surrounding lands, first introduced in 2007 as part of the game’s first expansion, for Midnight. The results have players feeling some serious nostalgia, and wanting more where that came from.

It’s clear Blizzard used a deft hand when handling these zone remakes. All the familiar sights and sounds that made Silvermoon and Eversong iconic are still there, as are many of the same NPCs and characters players may remember from The Burning Crusade. Everything, from building textures to the lighting, NPC storylines to enemy models, has all been brought up to a modern standard. Areas like the Dead Scar that were once destroyed by the Scourge are now, over 20 years later, largely healed, a rare moment in WoW where players actually get to see the progress of time. The result is a remade Silvermoon and Eversong that feel instantly nostalgic, yet still blends in seamlessly with the other zones of the expansion and the rest of modern WoW.

On the WoW subreddit, user matticus7 in a widely-upvoted post titled “To the Devs who revamped Silvermoon/Eversong,” said that as a Blood Elf player, Blizzard “absolutely exceeded any and all expectations.” In the comments, others pointed out how many of the quests, including those in the reimagined part of Eversong that was once the Blood Elf starting zone, pay homage to quests from The Burning Crusade.

Another player said Blizzard “absolutely cooked” with the revamp, while yet another post states “the update to Silvermoon is amazing across the board.” Others are now wanting to see what other older WoW zones, or cities like Stormwind and Orgrimmar, would look like if they were given the modern WoW treatment. Or as one player put it, “I don’t even care what zone. Just ‘more like that please.'”

Players may not have to wait too long to see that dream become reality. Blizzard has already confirmed the game’s next expansion, The Last Titan, will take players back to a reimagined Northrend. In an interview last month, Blizzard developers hinted that if the Silvermoon remakes were received well, remakes of the MMORPG’s two primary capitals of Orgrimmar and Stormwind are something Blizzard would like to tackle in the future.

In an interview with GameSpot ahead of Midnight’s release, game designer Jake Shillan elaborated on how Blizzard approached reimagining zones like Eversong and Zul’Aman for 2026.

“We’re not simply asking, ‘Can we redo it?’ That’s not really the question,” Shillan said. “The question is, ‘What is it like now in terms of the World of Warcraft itself?’ We’re not erasing and redoing, that’s not what this is. This is us saying, ‘We’ve been playing in this place for 15 real-life years and a couple of decades, I believe, in-game, let’s take it to the next level’ and say, ‘Okay, it’s been quite a bit of in-game time, what is this space like now?'”

WoW: Midnight goes live for North and South American players later today, or tomorrow for those in parts of Europe, Japan, and Australia. Midnight may just be getting started, but Blizzard has already outlined its 2026 plans for WoW in a recent roadmap.
