WWE 2K Clone Spotted on PlayStation Store, Uses Solo Sikoa as a Cover Star

WWE 2K Clone Spotted on PlayStation Store, Uses Solo Sikoa as a Cover Star

A new WWE 2K clone titled Wrestling Revolution has appeared on storefronts like the PlayStation Store, and it’s apparently set to release on July 15. What’s more, it uses a WWE 2K knock-off version of Solo Sikoa as its cover star.

While the definition of a video game “clone” is pretty wide, with games like Pokemon having tons of legitimate clones over the years, they are usually seen as cheaper versions of beloved IPs. In this case, it’s a cheaper, seemingly AI-generated video game using WWE figures to boost sales. Of course, WWE may not sit well with that—but it’s worth noting that tactics like this are not necessarily uncommon. Chances are, before release, this knockoff version of Solo Sikoa will be removed as it is being used as a marketing ploy, for whatever reason.

GTA 6 Boss is Now Playable in WWE 2K26 for Some Reason

Fans can now play as, and also beat up, the person in charge of GTA 6’s parent company in WWE 2K26, in a rather offbeat addition to the game.

Wrestling Revolution is a Knockoff WWE Game

Wrestling Revolution is being developed and published by GGMUKSINC and NXG Studio, both of which have relatively limited rosters of games to their names. Many of their games feature AI-generated key art and/or are conceptually simple, like Math Genius: Multiplication. Wrestling Revolution is one of the latest to come from the companies, with its knock-off Solo Sikoa cover star and July 15 release date being the only real concrete “details” about the game. There are also three screenshots of the game available on its PlayStation Store listing.

This game does not appear to be related to the Wrestling Revolution game developed by MDickie.

In the first screenshot, there is a character select screen showing a model of “Maverick’ and a look at the roster. It appears to be limited to ten wrestlers (sans Knockoff Solo, perhaps suggesting it is just a marketing ploy to get folks to stop and consider), but there does appear to be super AI-generated, super generic, oddball versions of known WWE wrestlers: Roman Reigns, Christian (now known as Christian Cage at AEW), and maybe, maybe Penta—if in a super generic, low effort character creature suit kind of way. The second screenshot appears to show the menu, alongside an AI-generated character model; the final screenshot shows a match between The Hammer and The Hammer, in an empty ring.

Based on the available info about the game, many would likely argue that this is shovelware—an increasing problem on all gaming storefronts, not just PlayStation. Across the Nintendo eShop, the Xbox store, Steam, and so forth, there are several “low-effort, low-quality software or video games created and pushed onto the market as quickly as possible.” Clones often make up a sizeable percentage of all shovelware, seemingly in an attempt to convince buyers that their game is the legitimate one. Shovelware was a big issue prior to the rise of generative AI, and it seems like the problem can only continue with genAI shovelware now.

Meanwhile, it’s worth noting that publisher Take-Two recently confirmed that WWE 2K27 is in development, while developer Visual Concepts works to wrap up WWE 2K26. WWE 2K26 is not the best-reviewed game in the franchise, but fingers crossed, the next one goes back to the stride established by WWE 2K22-WWE2K25.
