WWE 2K26 Officially Reveals Monday Night War Edition

WWE 2K26 has officially unveiled another new edition of the game players can pick up, revealing the Monday Night War Edition of the annual wrestling franchise. The newest WWE game from 2K looks to be bringing fans back to the late 1990s and early 2000s with its upcoming release, putting the spotlight on one of the organization’s most popular eras. WWE 2K26 has already shown off the Attitude Era Edition, featuring beloved athletes like “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Triple H on the cover. Now, 2K is taking notes from another staple of the turn of the millennium.

The 1990s kicked off one of the most noteworthy sagas in WWE history, with a major competitor bursting onto the scene. World Championship Wrestling, shortened to WCW, quickly became one of the biggest threats to the then-WWF’s dominance, poaching several big-name talents like Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, and Kevin Nash, among others. The competition between WWF’s Monday Night Raw shows and WCW’s Monday Nitro saw the era given the moniker of the “Monday Night War,” with each organization vying for dominance. WWE 2K26 is now looking to bring fans back to the electrifying competition between the two juggernauts.

One of the WWE’s most iconic stars is parting ways with the wrestling company, citing recent comments from Donald Trump as the reason why.

WWE 2K26 is Bringing Back the Monday Night War

WWE 2K26 revealed the Monday Night War Edition of the game on Saturday evening, January 24, with an exciting trailer. The video shows off plenty of highlights from the era’s biggest stars, particularly centering around the previously-mentioned “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, The Rock, and Hulk Hogan. The cover features contrasting lineups of both the WWE and WCW’s biggest stars from the Monday Night War era, though the special perks for purchasing the Monday Night War Edition were not revealed. WWE 2K26 has yet to officially confirm its hard release date, though 2K has confirmed that pre-orders will open for the game on January 30 with an expected March release window.

Though 2K is still keeping many details about WWE 2K26 close to its chest, the Monday Night War Edition could give more hints about its content. Combined with the previously-revealed Attitude Era Edition, WWE 2K26 may be putting a greater focus on the late 1990s and early 2000s, potentially bringing back notable events from the period. The inclusion of WCW’s Monday Nitro within the trailer could suggest that 2K may be planning to add WCW content to the game, allowing players to live out or even change the course of the competition.

WWE 2K26 Has Big Plans for Fans of the Franchise

WWE 2K26‘s early information and leaks suggest a wide array of content is on the way for the game beyond its Attitude Era push. Leaks have suggested that CM Punk will be the focus of WWE 2K26‘s Showcase Mode, letting players re-live some of the highlights of his career. A post from a WWE referee has led to speculation that the franchise’s roster may get a significant expansion with its next game, with 2K potentially adding Lucha Libre AAA wrestlers to WWE 2K26. Several current WWE superstars have also already been confirmed for the playable cast, including 32 different wrestlers with fan-favorites like Kofi Kingston and Asuka among the selection.

WWE 2K26‘s focus on the late 1990s and early 2000s has sparked plenty of speculation about what 2K is planning for the game. Leaks for WWE 2K26 have already hinted at some new match types planned to be added, including the Dumpster and Inferno Matches, among others. The Attitude Era trailer may have also given hints about some planned content for the game, highlighting major moments like The Undertaker and Mankind’s legendary Hell in a Cell match. WWE 2K26 looks to be bringing back the 90s and early 2000s in style, honoring one of WWE’s most iconic eras.
