WWE 2K26 Shutdown Date Officially Revealed, WWE 2K27 Development Confirmed

Per recent updates from 2K’s Support Page and Take-Two’s recent earnings call, fans now know when WWE 2K26‘s online status will shut down and that WWE 2K27 is in development. None of this should be surprising, given the annual cadence of WWE 2K games, but some fans may be unhappy about the online shutdown news all the same.

That said, WWE 2K26 didn’t manage to get over with a ton of fans. In my own review of WWE 2K26, I noted how it ended up “disappointing far more than its predecessors” and how its core content was “undermined by a lack of creative ambition,” and that was before the foreseeable controversy of the Ringside Pass hit fans. It’s uncertain if the Ringside Pass will return in WWE 2K27, but fans know it’s in the works all the same (though that was not a hard guess).

Take-Two Interactive, owner of the 2K Games publishing label, recently held an earnings call. The big news coming out of it is, without a doubt, the CEO’s reaffirmation of GTA 6‘s November 2026 release date. Of course, Take-Two is a big company, and that’s only one game in its catalog. The 2K Label, as part of this earnings call, was also confirmed to be working on WWE 2K27, as well as NBA 2K27, PGA Tour 2K27, Project Ethos, and BioShock 4. It’s not much news, but it’s good to have confirmation all the same.

This is especially true because of WWE 2K26‘s shutdown date. Now, the game is still active and still has multiple seasons of WWE 2K26 DLC to roll out, but 2K’s Support Page was updated this May with WWE 2K26‘s shutdown and delisting date. According to this update, online services for the PC, PlayStation, Switch 2, and Xbox versions of WWE 2K26 will shut down on March 31, 2028, meaning fans know they have less than 2 years left to play this version of the game online.

It’s worth noting that this cadence is to be expected. WWE 2K24 recently shut down, with its online features and services coming to an end on March 31. WWE 2K25 is also confirmed to shut down on March 31, 2027, so fans can expect online support to end for WWE 2K26 the next year, with WWE 2K27 following suit thereafter. Such a cadence will no doubt continue with the recently confirmed WWE 2K27 and every WWE 2K game that follows.

In the meantime, there’s plenty of WWE 2K26 DLC and seasonal content coming over the next few months. Ringside Season Pass #3 lands in June with a focus on Brian Pillman, La Parka, Matt Cardona, and Torrie Wilson; Ringside Season Pass #4 hits in July with Jelly Roll, Lady Shani, Matt Hardy, and Jeff Hardy; Ringside Season Pass #5 enters the convo in September with Bam Bam Bigelow, Brie Bella, Pagano, and Danhausen; and Ringside Season Pass #5 wraps it up in October with Earthquake, Octagon Jr., Typhoon, and Royce Keys.
