Xbox CEO Gives New Official Statement on The Elder Scrolls 6

Xbox CEO Gives New Official Statement on The Elder Scrolls 6

However briefly, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma recently discussed The Elder Scrolls 6 during a Gamescom interview. Bethesda has yet to showcase anything concrete about The Elder Scrolls 6, but since Sharma’s “reset,” it seems the companies are more openly making vague remarks about the game. Of course, it is still years away, so fans should keep their expectations in check.

Not too long ago (and potentially due to a protest by Bethesda devs), Sharma teased The Elder Scrolls 6‘s official subtitle. Its subtitle is probably one of the biggest potential reveals, so teasing it is a massive shift in Xbox/Bethesda strategy compared to the past few years. No one calls Skyrim “The Elder Scrolls 5,” for example, and that’s possibly what will happen here (even though fans have been calling it TES6 for years). Either way, Sharma has seen The Elder Scrolls 6 in action at least once, and this came up during the aforementioned interview.

Xbox CEO Confirms New Detail About Project Helix

New information about Project Helix, the next generation Xbox console, has been shared by Xbox CEO Asha Sharma at Gamescom 2026.

In a BBC interview, Sharma was asked about Xbox exclusivity plans for The Elder Scrolls 6, which has been a divisive topic ever since Xbox acquired Bethesda. It makes perfect sense to make one of the biggest RPGs in the world exclusive to try to move Xbox Series X/S consoles (or, in all likelihood, the next-gen Xbox Helix consoles), but at the same time, its sales could be hindered. When asked about exclusivity, Sharma pointed toward the recent Xbox exclusivity confirmations for Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution, stating the company will do its best to “continue to do that, all in the context of the business being healthy.” She then commented on The Elder Scrolls 6 more directly:

“It’s a beautiful game.”

While it’s not much, it still adds to the growing pile of Xbox and/or Bethesda comments on the upcoming game. Such a comment would not feel as bad, perhaps, if Bethesda had not announced the game in 2018. Given that Todd Howard has publicly joked about pretending that announcement never occurred, it seems he might agree. Xbox is pouring even more resources into The Elder Scrolls 6‘s development, as well as its other big franchises, so it’ll be interesting to see what the game does look like at release and if it is indeed “beautiful.”

The Elder Scrolls 6

Neither Xbox nor Bethesda have commented on The Elder Scrolls 6‘s release date, but a couple of trustworthy insiders have. According to Windows Central’s Jez Corden (back in May), The Elder Scrolls 6‘s release is likely to be around 2028 and 2029, with at least one Fallout remaster releasing before it. Similarly, comments from Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier echo this exact sentiment, putting TES6 in the vicinity of 2028 and 2029, so fans still have a few more years to go.

It remains to be seen if further investments somehow speed up this development timeline, but hopefully it does not harm the actual quality of the fantasy game. No one is defending how long it has taken from announcement to proper reveal to release, but rushing it now may not make that wait worth it, and ultimately that’s the question right now.
