Planet of Lana 2 is now available on Xbox Game Pass, having joined two of its tiers on March 5. This is the fifth new title to reach the service in March 2026 and the 43rd Xbox Game Pass arrival since the beginning of the year.
Developed by Sweden-based Wishfully, the first Planet of Lana game was a well-received puzzle platformer with a sci-fi setting and distinctive hand-painted visuals that toed the line between being minimalist and expressive. Its sequel, Planet of Lana 2: Children of the Leaf, was announced during the June 2025 Xbox Games Showcase. It was immediately confirmed as a day-one Xbox Game Pass title, mirroring its predecessor’s reveal.
Xbox Game Pass Adds 2 Massive RPGs with ‘Very Positive’ Reviews
Xbox Game Pass kicks off March 2026 with two massive RPGs that boast ‘Very Positive’ player reviews but are otherwise markedly different.
Planet of Lana 2 Launches on Xbox Game Pass to Strong Early Reviews
Wishfully’s latest title launched worldwide on PC and consoles earlier today, March 5, at 10 a.m. ET / 4 p.m. CET. Planet of Lana 2 marks the first day-one release to join the Xbox Game Pass library in March 2026. The game’s review embargo lifted 24 hours ahead of launch, bringing a wave of strongly positive early impressions. Planet of Lana 2 currently holds a Mighty rating on OpenCritic, with an average score of 84 and an 85% reviewer recommendation rate. That puts it slightly ahead of its well-regarded predecessor, which carries an 81 average and an 80% recommendation rate on the platform. That said, the sequel’s OpenCritic review sample remains just over half the size of the first game’s, so the difference in critical reception between the duo could still shift.

The first Planet of Lana game is still part of Microsoft’s subscription service as of March 2026, roughly two months shy of its third anniversary. Since its sequel has the same publisher, there is reason to believe it could have a comparably long stint on Xbox Game Pass. Planet of Lana 2 is reportedly a longer game than the original, with early estimates placing its playthroughs at up to eight hours as opposed to five. It is largely unchanged on a narrative level, as it still aims to appeal to players who prefer minimalist game stories that are shown more than they are told.

Xbox Game Pass currently has four remaining arrivals confirmed for March 2026, starting with Cyberpunk 2077 and Construction Simulator on March 10. More will be revealed in a few weeks’ time, when the Wave 2 lineup for this month is expected to be formally announced. March’s roster will likely fall short of February’s in terms of day-one releases, eight of which joined the service last month compared to just two confirmed so far. However, with Planet of Lana 2 capping a streak of five titles added in as many days since the start of March, the month could still end up roughly comparable to February 2026—which saw 20 arrivals—in terms of overall Xbox Game Pass additions.
