Xbox Game Pass Adds Day-One Title That’s Like Terraria Meets Factorio

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass users are able to play Sandustry as part of their subscriptions as of today, August 13. The day-one indie marks the third brand-new addition to the service in August 2026, as well as the 125th Xbox Game Pass release this year.

The debut title from one-person indie studio Lantto Games, Sandustry is a genre hybrid that combines Factorio-style automation with Terraria‘s 2D open-world exploration and survival-crafting loop. Players carve through fully destructible worlds, extract resources, and funnel them into increasingly complex automated production chains, ultimately producing better gear and upgrades that let them venture farther, secure rarer materials, and expand their factories in an increasingly ambitious progression loop.

Sandustry Expands Xbox Game Pass Ultimate’s Indie Library

The Early Access Factory Automation Game Is Currently Only Available on PC

Indie publisher Hooded Horse officially launched Sandustry on August 13, at 11 a.m. ET. The early access version of the open-world game is available via Steam and the Xbox Store, as well as Xbox Game Pass. The only catch for Microsoft’s subscribers is that Sandustry is currently exclusive to desktops. As such, the August 13 arrival is limited to the XGP Ultimate and PC Game Pass tiers, both of which only offer it for PC. Xbox Cloud Gaming support is also not an option for now because Microsoft’s streaming infrastructure runs on modified Series X hardware, meaning Sandustry would need an Xbox console port before it could be offered through the service.

The game’s Steam page states that Sandustry is expected to remain in early access for about a year. If the project eventually expands to Xbox consoles, such a release would ostensibly come later, once the game has at least reached version 1.0 around August 2027. While this Terraria-inspired title remains out of reach, console users can still play Terraria itself via Microsoft’s subscription service. Originally released in 2011, Terraria is one of the oldest titles on Xbox Game Pass, having been part of its catalog since its very launch in June 2017.

Cricket 26 Now Also Available on Xbox Game Pass

Arriving Alongside Sandustry and the XGP Premium Version of MIO: Memories in Orbit

The August 13 catalog update features two more titles, including Cricket 26, which is now available across three tiers of Microsoft’s service. The final addition is MIO: Memories in Orbit, a stylish metroidvania that originally joined the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate library in January 2026 and has now been added to the Premium-tier catalog.

What’s Next for Xbox Game Pass?

The official Xbox Game Pass lineup for August 2026 currently lists one more unreleased title in the form of Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy. The latest narrative-driven action adventure from Asobo Studio is due to debut on the August 27, marking yet another day-one addition to the service.

Before Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy joins the catalog, Microsoft is expected to formally unveil August’s Wave 2 lineup. Based on historical patterns dating back to the early 2020s, that announcement will most likely come on August 18. The same day will also see Egging On added to the Xbox Game Pass Premium catalog, nine months after originally debuting on the higher tiers of the service.
