Xbox Game Pass has added The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition and Echo Generation 2 to its content catalog. The RPG duo mark the 15th and 16th new addition to the service in May 2026, bringing the total number of this year’s Xbox Game Pass releases to 88.

While Obsidian Entertainment has been an Xbox studio since 2018, The Outer Worlds was originally published in 2019 by Take-Two’s Private Division under a pre-acquisition deal. It was still a day-one addition to Xbox Game Pass, but its 2023 remaster, The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition, debuted as a standalone version that required a separate purchase with a $9.99 upgrade path for players who already own the base game and its DLC.

Xbox Game Pass Adds Highest-Rated Game of 2026

The highest-rated game of 2026 so far is now available on Xbox Game Pass, having debuted on two tiers of the subscription service.

The Outer Worlds Remaster Joins Xbox Game Pass

Three years after its original release, the remaster joined three Xbox Game Pass tiers on May 27. Although Private Division is still listed as its publisher on the Xbox Store, it remains to be seen whether the game will follow other third-party arrivals, which usually stay on the service for a fixed period. Because both Obsidian and the IP itself are owned by Microsoft, it is plausible that the remaster will remain on Xbox Game Pass indefinitely. That likelihood seems all the greater in light of the fact many The Outer Worlds players were recently upgraded to Spacer’s Choice Edition for free.

Echo Generation 2 Now Available on Xbox Game Pass As Well

The May 27 catalog update also includes the day-one title Echo Generation 2. Although also labeled as a role-playing game, it offers a decidedly different experience from The Outer Worlds, with turn-based combat, deckbuilding elements, and strong JRPG inspirations. The original Echo Generation was also a day-one Xbox Game Pass release in October 2021. It stayed on the service for exactly one year, suggesting its sequel could be available to subscribers until mid-2027.

Moving forward, Xbox Game Pass is losing five titles on May 31, including some of its highest-rated JRPGs in the form of Persona 4: Golden and Metaphor: ReFantazio. The Wave 1 content lineup for June 2026 is expected to be revealed on either the first or (more likely) second day of the following month, based on Microsoft’s recent announcement patterns.
