While Microsoft itself has yet to announce the full slate of new games coming to Xbox Game Pass in September 2026, prior release date announcements have clued fans in on what to expect from the service next month. Xbox Game Pass has had its ups and downs in 2026, but one consistent has been a steady stream of new games debuting on the service.
Those that are signed up for the Ultimate and PC tiers of Xbox Game Pass are treated to brand-new, day one releases each and every month. These brand-new games give those tiers of Game Pass a lot of value, and if you are someone that was going to play these games anyway, it basically pays for itself. As far as the new games coming in September, eight have been confirmed so far, but it’s entirely possible that more will be announced soon.

The new Xbox Game Pass games coming in September 2026 are Shelldiver on September 1, Moonlighter 2 on September 2, Speedrunners 2: King of Speed on September 3, Dice a Million on September 4, RuneScape: Dragonwilds on September 15, Dune: Awakening on September 22, Well Dweller on September 22, and Minecraft Dungeons 2 on September 29. Clearly, September is shaping up to be a busy month for Game Pass subscribers, with a great deal of variety on offer.
There are some new Game Pass games coming in September 2026 that stand out more than others. RuneScape: Dragonwilds is an open world co-op fantasy survival game that looks fantastic, while Dune: Awakening marks the console debut of the survival game based on the wildly popular sci-fi franchise. Between RuneScape: Dragonwilds and Dune: Awakening, survival game fans definitely have a lot to look forward to in September.
The same day that Dune: Awakening hits Game Pass, Well Dweller is joining the lineup as a day one release. Well Dweller is a Metroidvania game from the same developer that made the well-received Crypt Custodian. Crypt Custodian has set a high bar, and it will be interesting to see if Well Dweller lives up to expectations.
And finally, September 29 will see the debut of Minecraft Dungeons 2 on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Minecraft Dungeons 2 is an action-RPG similar to Diablo, but set in the world of Minecraft. Minecraft Dungeons 2 is a first-party game from Xbox, and so in some ways it could be considered the flagship Game Pass release for September. Future Xbox-published games coming to Game Pass include Gears of War: E-Day in October and the long-awaited Fable reboot in February, with more sure to be announced in the weeks and months ahead.
