Xbox Game Pass subscribers should brace themselves, as five games are set to leave the service on August 31 — including one of its highest-rated titles. New games are added to Xbox Game Pass on a regular basis, but games are also removed from the service regularly, too. In fact, a batch of Xbox Game Pass games are removed on the 15th of every month and the last day of every month. It’s a bummer, but on the bright side, subscribers are always given a heads-up about the upcoming departures.
This way, Xbox Game Pass subscribers have the chance to play the games before they leave. As far as this month goes, Xbox Game Pass subscribers have already had to say goodbye to four games, with Atlas Fallen: Reign of Sand, MENACE, Aliens: Fireteam Elite, and Firewatch all given the boot on August 15. Those were some notable departures for sure, but now even more games are confirmed to be leaving Game Pass.
List of Xbox Game Pass Games Leaving Soon
- Another Crab’s Treasure
- I Am Your Beast
- Neon Abyss
- One Lonely Outpost
- The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
It’s been confirmed that five game are leaving Xbox Game Pass on August 31, with Another Crab’s Treasure, I Am Your Beast, Neon Abyss, One Lonely Outpost, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt all scheduled for the chopping block. While it’s disappointing to see any of these games removed from Game Pass, The Witcher 3‘s removal will likely sting the most. After all, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is one of the highest-rated games of all time, and so it leaving Game Pass means that the service is losing one of its best titles. A similar situation happened just last month, when the critically-acclaimed Celeste was removed from Game Pass as well.
Considering The Witcher 3‘s extremely positive reviews and dozens of awards, Game Pass subscribers that have yet to play it may want to make it a priority before it’s removed from the library. As far as the other upcoming Game Pass removals go, I would personally recommend checking out Another Crab’s Treasure. Another Crab’s Treasure is a Soulslike game with a comedic twist, as players take on the role of a hermit crab. Those that don’t normally vibe with the high-difficulty of Soulslike games can rest easy, as Another Crab’s Treasure has an easy mode that lets you simply whip out a gun and kill everything in one hit, including bosses.
Xbox Game Pass is losing some real gems on August 31, but luckily, subscribers have plenty of new additions to look forward to in the near future. On August 25, Blood Dungeon will be hitting Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass as a day one release, while Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is coming to Game Pass just a couple of days later. September’s got games like Shelldiver and Minecraft Dungeons 2 on deck, whereas Gears of War: E-Day is coming to Game Pass on October 6.
The Game Pass 2027 calendar is starting to take shape as well. Both Persona 4 Revival and the Fable reboot are coming to Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass in February of next year, so subscribers have some busy months ahead of them, to say the least.
