The next wave of Xbox Game Pass departures is just around the corner, with eight titles scheduled to leave the service on June 30. Among them is Payday 2, StarBreeze Entertainment’s co-op heist game that has been part of Xbox Game Pass for over nine years.

Microsoft’s subscription service launched on June 1, 2017. The Xbox Game Pass catalog featured more than 100 titles at launch, including Payday 2: Crimewave Edition. The co-op shooter not only remained on the service over the following nine years, but it even expanded its reach as Microsoft kept splitting its catalog across more subscription tiers. For instance, Payday 2 was included in Xbox Game Pass Core, now known as Xbox Game Pass Essential, from the moment the entry-level membership launched in September 2023.

Xbox Game Pass Adds Day-One Co-Op Game with ‘Very Positive’ Reviews

Xbox Game Pass officially adds its 16th new title of June 2026: a highly replayable day-one game with ‘Very Positive’ user reviews and 4-player co-op.

Payday 2, Slay the Spire, Tomb Raider, and More Leaving Xbox Game Pass Soon

A month following its ninth anniversary on the service, Payday 2 is set to depart tomorrow, June 30. Seven more titles are part of the next wave of library removals: Mecha Break, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Slay the Spire, Ultimate Chicken Horse, Volcano Princess, and Unpacking. None have been on the service for as long as Payday 2, with Slay the Spire accounting for the second-longest stint from this batch, having originally joined Microsoft’s content library in August 2019. On the other end of the spectrum are two July 2025 Xbox Game Pass additions in the form of Ultimate Chicken Horse and Mecha Break, both set to depart just ahead of their first anniversary.

Payday 2 is only the fourth title ever to leave the XGP Core/Essential library, following Forza Horizon 4, which was delisted from all tiers, and two standard removals: Goat Simulator and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. The co-op heist game’s catalog stint outlived its controversial successor by orders of magnitude, as Payday 3 already left Xbox Game back in September 2024, just one year after launch.

The “Added” column reflects only brand-new games, ignoring situations like existing titles being added to the XGP Premium tier.

The June 30 Xbox Game Pass departures bring this month’s total number of removals to 13. The service is still on course to finish June with a net gain of four titles, having already added 16 games, with one more scheduled to follow on June 30. The month-end addition is RV There Yet?, a so-called “friendslop” game that was originally slated for May 2026 but suffered a last-minute delay for polishing reasons.

The next catalog change is due July 2, when Xbox Game Pass Premium subscribers are set to receive Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 after a year-long wait. The full Wave 1 lineup for July 2026 may not be announced until July 6, when Winds of Arcana: Ruination is already confirmed to be joining Microsoft’s ever-shifting content library.
