Xbox Game Pass Losing Some Outstanding RPGs and More Titles Today

Xbox Game Pass Losing Some Outstanding RPGs and More Titles Today

Five titles are leaving Xbox Game Pass later today, with the November 30 departures including Octopath Traveler 1 and 2. Square Enix’s critically acclaimed JRPGs are exiting Microsoft’s content catalog at a moment when many fans may have been inclined to play them anyway, making the timing of their imminent Xbox Game Pass departure particularly inconvenient for some.

Since losing 13 titles in June 2025, Microsoft’s subscription service has limited its monthly removals to single-digit figures. That streak is now set to end, with five titles having left Xbox Game Pass on November 15 and another group of identical size scheduled to depart later today.

PSA: Don’t Forget to Claim Your New Xbox Game Pass Perk

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers should definitely make sure that they claim one of the service’s newest perks.

Octopath Traveler, SteamWorld Build, and More Titles Leaving Xbox Game Pass Today

The November 30 list of Xbox Game Pass departures comprises Octopath Traveler and its sequel, Barbie Project Friendship, Lords of the Fallen, and SteamWorld Build. All five titles are expected to remain playable through the end of the day, leaving the service around midnight local time on December 1. For achievement hunters who have not yet started these games, only Barbie Project Friendship and SteamWorld Build offer a realistic chance to make some meaningful Gamerscore progress before they are removed.

Barbie Project Friendship is the only title in this departing group that has been on the service for less than a year, having joined Xbox Game Pass on June 11 alongside the PC version of Kingdom Two Crowns. Conversely, SteamWorld Build is leaving just ahead of its second anniversary in Microsoft’s content catalog, while Lords of the Fallen and both Octopath Traveler titles have each spent roughly 18 months in the XGP library.

Octopath Traveler 1 and 2 Are Leaving Xbox Game Pass at a Really Inconvenient Time

While it’s been available to Xbox Game Pass members for a while now, the Octopath Traveler series is departing at a time of renewed interest in it. That’s primarily due to Octopath Traveler 0 being on the horizon. First announced during the July 2025 Nintendo Direct, the third mainline entry is scheduled to launch on PC and consoles on December 4. While it is not a day-one Xbox Game Pass release, the summer announcement of its late fall debut may have prompted some JRPG fans to revisit the first two installments, or play them for the first time. Given the substantial length of both games, it is plausible that not all subscribers who began them in recent months had time to finish, making the timing of their removal potentially inconvenient. Even without this context, their departure represents a notable loss for the Xbox Game Pass JRPG catalog.

November 2025 Has Been a Big Net Positive for Xbox Game Pass Library

While November 2025 marks the first time since June that Xbox Game Pass is losing a double-digit number of titles in a single month, it was still a significant net positive for Microsoft’s subscription service. The library grew by 20 titles over the course of the last 30 days, adding twice as many as it lost, including today’s departures.

Looking at the immediate future, Xbox Game Pass already has five confirmed titles for December 2025. These include Lost Records: Bloom and Rage, as well as four day-one releases: Marvel Cosmic Invasion, Routine, A Game About Digging A Hole, and Dome Keeper. The latter two are already available on other platforms but are still treated as day-one Game Pass titles on account of their upcoming Xbox console versions being brand new.
