Xbox Nano Controller Announced, And It’s So Small

Xbox Nano Controller Announced, And It’s So Small

Microsoft has announced a new controlled called the Xbox Nano Controller, and it’s smaller than the existing Xbox controller, and it costs less.

Microsoft says the controller is designed to fit nearly every pocket and budget. “Its compact design offers a great option for younger players, smaller hands, or anyone seeking something portable for play on the go,” the company said.

The Nano is the smallest controller Xbox has ever released.

The Xbox Nano controller is a bit over five inches in length and weighs 3.5 ounces–it’s the smallest controller Microsoft has ever made. It features all 18 gameplay buttons you’d expect, so Microsoft says it should feel familiar.

The smaller controller comes with a smaller price, too: $50 USD. Microsoft partnered with Samsung on a bundle that comes with a controller and two months of Game Pass Ultimate (for new subscribers) when they buy a new Samsung TV this holiday. For anyone planning to use this new controller for cloud streaming, Microsoft will soon put caps on how much you can play before you must pay more to keep going.

Additionally, Microsoft and Facebook company Meta are working on a new bundle featuring the Nano controller, two months of Game Pass, and a Meta Quest headset.

The Xbox Nano controller uses rechargeable batteries and a programmable action button for quick access to things players want, like taking a screenshot or capturing gameplay.

The Nano is much smaller than the standard Xbox controller.

You can preorder the Xbox Nano controller now. The Nano was the second new gaming controller revealed today, following Sony’s announcement of a limited-edition DualSense controller for Gran Turismo.
