Xbox‘s final Free Play Days Promotion for October 2026 (the first for November) is now live through November 1 or November 2, depending on the exact game. The good news is that, across all five Xbox Free Play Day games, fans are likely to have something they want to check out this weekend. The bad news is that it’s more restrictive than usual.
Xbox’s Free Play Days Promotion divides its free game selection into two categories: Free for All, which is exactly as it says, and Free with Xbox Game Pass. The latter requires an Xbox Game Pass subscription, although they are considered free perks and not traditional additions to the Xbox Game Pass library. This weekend, only one of the games is Free for All, while the other four are free with Xbox Game Pass.

Play Dead by Daylight Free on Xbox
Dead by Daylight has spent more than a decade bringing some of horror’s most recognizable villains together, and its asymmetrical multiplayer formula remains the biggest reason for its popularity. Each match pits Survivors against a single Killer, with the Survivors attempting to repair generators and escape before they’re hunted down and sacrificed. The Killer, meanwhile, must use their unique abilities to track down opponents and prevent anyone from getting away. Over the years, the unique horror game has introduced an enormous cast of original characters and licensed horror icons like Dead by Daylight‘s recent addition of Art the Clown.

Play Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Free on Xbox
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is a challenging Soulslike action RPG set during the final years of China’s Ming Dynasty, where a mysterious disease is transforming people into terrifying creatures. The story follows Wuchang, a pirate warrior suffering from amnesia who must explore the war-torn land of Shu while searching for answers about her past and the illness spreading across the region. Combat is a major focus, with players mastering different weapons, magical abilities, and fighting styles to defeat increasingly difficult enemies. There’s also an interconnected world to explore, filled with dangerous bosses, hidden secrets, and multiple endings. Wuchang: Fallen Feathers should appeal to anyone who enjoys games like Elden Ring and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

Play Darkwood Free on Xbox
Surviving the night is the main objective in Darkwood, a top-down survival horror game that has earned a reputation for being one of the more unsettling experiences in the genre. Darkwood builds tension through its disturbing atmosphere, limited resources, and the constant threat of something lurking just outside the player’s view. Exploring the forest during the day is dangerous enough, but nighttime means returning to a hideout, barricading entrances, and doing whatever it takes to survive until morning. Unlike the more combat-focused Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, fighting isn’t always the smartest option here. Resource management and careful preparation are just as important as knowing when to run, making Darkwood an especially appealing choice for those who enjoy hard survival horror games.

Play Spirittea Free on Xbox
Not every supernatural game has to be terrifying, and Spirittea offers something considerably more relaxing than Darkwood. Taking inspiration from cozy life simulators and Japanese folklore, the game puts players in control of a writer who moves to a quiet town, only to discover that its residents are being troubled by spirits. Fortunately, there’s a solution: restore an old bathhouse and give those spirits somewhere to relax. Much of Spirittea revolves around managing the bathhouse, keeping its unusual guests happy, and gradually improving the facilities, but there’s plenty to do outside of work. Players can spend time with villagers, go fishing, catch bugs, enjoy karaoke, and explore the surrounding area. With its colorful pixel art and laid-back gameplay, Spirittea has plenty in common with Stardew Valley, although its supernatural setting gives it a personality of its own.

Play Everspace 2 on Xbox
Leaving behind the small-town setting of Spirittea, Everspace 2 takes players into outer space for a massive sci-fi adventure filled with exploration, combat, and valuable loot. The single-player action RPG follows Adam Roslin, a clone pilot trying to make his way through the dangerous Demilitarized Zone, where outlaw factions and other threats make life difficult. Players can explore different star systems, upgrade their spacecraft, discover hidden locations, and take on increasingly difficult missions. There’s a strong emphasis on collecting better equipment, with different ships, weapons, and upgrades allowing for plenty of customization. Interestingly, Everspace 2 abandons the roguelike structure of its predecessor in favor of a more traditional RPG experience, complete with a handcrafted world and persistent progression. It’s an easy recommendation for anyone who enjoys fast-paced space combat but also wants a substantial story and plenty of freedom to explore
