Yo-Kai Watch 2: Haunted Domain has been officially announced for the Switch 2. Nintendo’s latest console is thus set to receive the first new Yo-Kai Watch game in well over seven years.
The original Yo-Kai Watch action RPG debuted for the Nintendo 3DS in Japan in July 2013, launching what quickly became one of Level-5’s biggest properties. By late 2015, shipments of the handheld games had surpassed 10 million units worldwide, with the franchise itself expanding into anime, movies, manga, and an extensive merchandise business. However, new game releases slowed down significantly in the years that followed. Yo-Kai Watch 4 remains the latest mainline installment, having released in 2019 without ever making its way to the West. Before Haunted Domain was announced, the most recent game in the series was the 2020 spin-off Yo-kai Watch Jam: Yo-kai Academy Y.

The New Game is a Remake of All Yo-Kai Watch 2 Versions
Yo-Kai Watch 2: Haunted Domain was unveiled during the September 9 Nintendo Direct, where Level-5 confirmed that the project is in development for the Nintendo Switch 2. The new release revisits the adventures featured across all three versions of Yo-Kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits, Fleshy Souls, and (the English-language) Psychic Specters. Compared to the originals, Haunted Domain is planned to feature new story content and improved graphics. Level-5 also hinted at new Yo-kai being part of the package, albeit without going into any specifics.
