Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, the mobile-exclusive Wizarding World RPG, has just announced a new update for July 2026. This new update brings a brand-new side quest to Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, one that sees players returning to the iconic Godric’s Hollow.
Released all the way back in April 2018, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery has already enjoyed eight long years on iOs and Android platforms. For those unaware, Hogwarts Mystery sees players assume the role of a new student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry who joins in the years between Harry Potter’s birth and eventual enrollment. Gameplay-wise, Hogwarts Mystery lets players attend classes, play Quidditch, talk with professors, learn spells, and make a variety of narrative choices along the way.
Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery Gets a Brand-New Side Quest
On July 9, developer Jam City announced a brand-new side quest for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery titled ‘A Muggle at Hogwarts.’ Available to play right now, this new Hogwarts Mystery quest sees players attending another field trip to Godric’s Hollow, the infamous location where Voldemort made Harry Potter an orphan. While in Godric’s Hollow, a magical altercation between two students is witnessed by a young Muggle with a camera, and it’s up to the player to track them down and fix the situation.

Of course, this simple task leads to a much more elaborate adventure that involves cave trolls, Quidditch, and Professor Dumbledore himself. Completing this Hogwarts Mystery side quest rewards players with a new wearable camera, along with all of the various currencies they earn by participating in the quest’s dialogue and action sequences.

Hogwarts Mystery Is Celebrating 25 Years of Harry Potter
This side quest is far from the only new content fans can expect this month. Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is currently in the midst of a big ‘Summer of Mystery’ event, a month-long celebration of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone‘s 25th anniversary. A new Mini Hogwarts Diary event will give players a special bonus item, while a 3-week community challenge has just begun, letting players earn escalating rewards by earning House Points.

Two new special adventures are also being added to Hogwarts Mystery later this month. The exact titles and details of these quests haven’t been confirmed just yet, but one will see players help a “beloved Hogwarts professor” prepare for a new school year, while the other is described as a “thrilling dragon-filled journey.” If these new special adventures are around the same length as the recently released ‘A Muggle at Hogwarts’ side quest, then fans can expect around an hour of gameplay for each.
Between July 23 and July 31, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery players can also participate in the “25 Years of Magic” sweepstakes for a chance to win special real-world prizes. Finally, on July 31, players will be able to claim a new in-game outfit in celebration of Harry Potter’s birthday.
