Grand Theft Auto is a series about, among other things, fulfilling our deepest, darkest fantasies about doing spectacular crimes. I’m talking about pulling off massive heists, tense car chases, standing around looking hot as a distraction while your partner does something shady, you know. In Grand Theft Auto 6, we can add yet another criminal fantasy to the pile: picking up a big smelly wad of dog shit and chucking it at a guy who’s pissed you the hell off.
This comes from YouTuber TGG, who got a hands-off look at the game as well as an interview with Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson. Though it wasn’t shown in any footage, TGG says Nelson confirmed that “If someone out on the street is walking their dog and their dog takes a dump, you can wait for the person to pick up the dog shit with a doggy bag and then you can hit that person, making them drop the doggy bag full of dog crap, and then you can actually pick that up and throw it at people.”

Honestly, hell yeah. That’s hilarious. I am sure there are plenty of characters in this game who deserve a bag of poop to the face, though I’m not sure how I feel about having to pick it up myself first. GTA 6 has plenty of other dog interactions that are significantly less disgusting: you can pet dogs and “scold” them, though I’m unclear as to why anyone would do the latter. It’s also suggested in one of the scenes in the trailer that Lucia and Jason either own a dog or are living with someone who does, and apparently your dog (or someone else’s?) can correctly predict the winning lottery numbers somehow? Man, dogs rule.
But the poop thing specifically speaks to a much larger system of interactions that spans the entirety of GTA 6, such as the ability to eat an apple and throw the core away, or get NPCs to drop other items you might want to grab from them beyond just weapons. Activities such as throwing away your own trash or petting dogs factor into the game’s sort-of-not-really morality system, which doesn’t really encourage you to be a good person so much as it encourages you to be a good criminal: staying sneaky, not killing innocent bystanders, and so forth.
We learned about a gazillion new things about GTA 6 yesterday from the 26-minute Netflix trailer and a bundle of new hands-off previews, but we at Kotaku managed to boil them down to 20 big ones that are easier to digest.
