A Pokemon Legends: Z-A player manages to complete a shiny hunt in Wild Zone 20, which was removed from the game with the Mega Dimension DLC in December 2025. When Pokemon Legends: Z-A came out, players were quick to notice that it was the perfect shiny-hunting game due to how spawns reset when resting at benches or entering and exiting indoor areas, such as the building in Wild Zone 4 or Professor Mable’s lab near Wild Zone 1.

It wasn’t long before players found ways to shiny hunt for virtually any single Pokemon in the game, except for locked targets like Mewtwo, Diancie, and the three Legendary Pokemon from Gen 6. Yet, one of the most jaw-dropping shiny hunts that came from the early days of the game was the “spawn overload glitch,” which allowed fans to move Pokemon away from their spawn location, force a save, then take them back to their original spawner next to a new Pokemon that was generated there in the meantime. This allowed players to shiny hunt multiple Alpha Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: Z-A at once in Wild Zone 20, but it was patched with Version 2.0, which was when the DLC was released on December 10, 2025.

Pokemon Legends ZA How to Shiny Hunt Legendaries in Mega Dimension

Here’s how to get shiny Virizion, Cobalion, Terrakion, Latios, and Latias in Pokemon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A Player Finds Six Alpha Shiny Pokemon in Wild Zone 20 After Glitch Removal

A Reddit user called Duelingk shared a post on the platform showing six shiny Alpha Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: Z-A‘s Wild Zone 20, right under the tower in the area. This was the infamous spawn overload location for shiny hunters who wanted a handful of Alpha critters, but since the release of the Mega Dimension DLC, this glitch has been patched. Players could still shiny hunt Alphas in Wild Zone 20 if they had already overloaded the spawn before the 2.0 patch, but it became impossible to repeat the process.

This shiny hunt method was not discussed or acknowledged by The Pokemon Company beforehand, so many fans found themselves with no access to the overloaded spawn in Wild Zone 20, or maybe with just a few Pokemon. Completing this hunt took Duelingk a few weeks, with Noivern being the final shiny of those six Pokemon. This was also a strange hunt back then because there was no control over which Pokemon would spawn every time one was bench-resetting in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, meaning that the shinies could be any of the around 70 Pokemon appearing at the base of the tower in Wild Zone 20.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A‘s DLC added new shiny hunting options via Asha’s Donuts, and they basically acted like the shiny sandwiches in Gen 9, albeit with randomized properties with little control based on the score in each taste category. This made hunting for shinies a bit frustrating, because a lot of the process was either farming for Hyperspace Berries on repeat or resetting the game to a previous save for each Donut that didn’t yield the wanted results.

By comparison, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet‘s shiny sandwiches were much better, as one only had to grind for Herba Mystica and then follow a recipe for specific results. As such, the spawn overload glitch was missed by fans in Z-A once it was removed, but it’s nice to see that for players like Duelingk, it’s still an option.
