Nintendo recently highlighted four key items that Link will obtain in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is the most-anticipated Nintendo title of the year, with pre-orders now available on the Nintendo Store and various retailers.

Throughout Link’s many journeys in the Zelda series, the Hero of Hyrule often carries different items that either serve a purpose in combat or allowed him to uncover secrets hidden throughout the world. In the original Ocarina of Time, the titular instrument could be used to play songs that open doors, transport Link to specific areas, or summon his trusty steed Epona to his side. The upcoming remake of Ocarina of Time will include several features from the N64 version, along with some changes that take advantage of the Switch 2’s hardware.

Nintendo Reveals The Updated Ocarina of Time and Spiritual Stones

Shortly after Nintendo revealed what some of Link’s allies in the Ocarina of Time remake will look like, the company offered a preview of some magical items that the Hero of Time will collect on his journey. Nintendo’s UK social media feeds shared an image of the titular Ocarina of Time and the three Spiritual Stones of Fire, Water, and the Forest. In the original release of Ocarina of Time, each Spiritual Stone also bore the name of the races that kept them, as they were respectively dubbed the Goron’s Ruby, the Zora’s Sapphire, and the Kokiri’s Emerald. Each item in the upcoming remake has retained a similar appearance to the original versions, though the golden portions of each Spiritual Stone have greater detailing than previous incarnations. The ocarina also has a Triforce symbol etched near the instrument’s mouthpiece, with holes that allow Link to play different notes on it.

Each Spiritual Stone was obtained after completing the first three dungeons of Ocarina of Time. The Kokiri’s Emerald was passed to Link by the Great Deku Tree after defeating Queen Gohma, while the Goron’s Ruby and Zora’s Sapphire were obtained from Darunia and Princess Ruto, respectively, after clearing Death Mountain and Jabu-Jabu’s Belly. Once all three Spiritual Stones were taken to the Temple of Time, Link could use each stone and play the Ocarina of Time to open the way to the Master Sword. Unlocking the Master Sword also opened up the game’s latter segment, with Link having become an adult in the ensuing time period.

Along with the updated appearances of the Ocarina of Time and the Spiritual Stones, Nintendo also shared a preview of a new feature coming to the Switch 2 remake. The Zelda Notes app will be updated to support Ocarina of Time, alongside ongoing support for Tears of the Kingdom.

A real-life Ocarina of Time is also being sold on the Nintendo Store. However, like the Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 console set, the ocarina is currently out of stock as of this writing. Given that Nintendo has pledged to restock the Zelda-themed Switch 2 console, it remains to be seen if the collectible instrument will receive similar treatment.
