A realistic first-person shooter called Wardogs, which has an 83% positive rating, or a score of 8.3 out of 10, on Steam, has confirmed its release window for the PlayStation 5. Wardogs has been a massive hit on Steam, selling over a million copies since its early-access release on September 10.
Developer Bulkhead had already said that it wants to bring Wardogs to consoles at some point in the future. However, it never actually gave fans a release window or firmly confirmed its targeted platforms. That said, the studio has now published a brand-new teaser trailer that announces some of its first home console destinations, along with a very interesting nod to Bungie’s Halo 3.
Wardogs Announces Official PlayStation 5 Release Window
Bulkhead’s new announcement revealed that Wardogs will be released on the PS5 consoles at some point in 2028. A new trailer for Wardogs was also released, which is essentially a recreation of the Halo 3: Believe teaser from 2012. Wardogs has been available on Steam since September 10 and has reached an impressive number of players in a short period. According to SteamDB, Wardogs peaked at over 365,000 concurrent players roughly 24 hours after launch, and it has “Very Positive” reviews on Steam.
Wardogs has immense potential to become one of the most anticipated FPS games on the PlayStation 5. It accumulated over one million wishlists on Steam before launch, and its sales are now going strong. What makes it particularly interesting is its massive 100-player open-world maps, where multiple squads fight in realistic, tactical battles. Wardogs was inspired by the King of the Hill mission in Arma 3, meaning it revolves around an economy-oriented progression system that encourages players to collect in-game money to access better artillery and vehicles.
Most Notable Wardogs Features

PS5 isn’t the only new targeted platform for Wardogs. An Xbox Series X/S port has been confirmed as well. Bulkhead also recently confirmed that Wardogs won’t have Linux support during early access, but the team is working to add Proton support as soon as possible. It remains to be seen if the developer will eye more platforms, such as the Nintendo Switch 2, in the future if the game ends up doing well on Xbox and PlayStation just as it has on Steam.
Fans looking to play Wardogs on consoles can already add it to their wishlists on the PlayStation and Microsoft Stores. That said, Wardogs isn’t the only interesting FPS game that PS5 users should keep an eye on. Several other shooters are also coming to PlayStation’s current-gen console, including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2. There are also some experimental games like RetroSpace and Paperhead that mix streamlined first-person shooter features with creative twists.
