Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Map Revealed

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Map Revealed

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is set to bring one of Ubisoft’s most beloved entries in the longstanding franchise to current-gen consoles, and the full map for the remake has been revealed, featuring new locations to the base game that were previously DLC. Ubisoft states that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will remain faithful to the original game except with some additions and enhancements to the overall experience to bring it to modern standards.

Revealed on April 23, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced was perhaps the worst-kept secret in gaming. Even the official worldwide reveal showcase made a cheeky nod to all the commotion surrounding the reveal. Despite the ship leaking so heavily since its first round of rumors, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced still seemed to knock it out of the park with its reveal. Led by Ubisoft Singapore, the upcoming Black Flag remake sees the return of Edward Kenway in a new light, literally. Resynced has been built from the ground up using the latest improvements in the Anvil Engine, featuring dynamic weather, ray-traced global illumination, and greatly enhanced character models and textures. Additionally, combat and stealth have seen significant reworks, while the open world has been made fully seamless, and some new missions have even been added to Edward’s story.

Black Flag Not the Only Assassin’s Creed Remake Currently in Development, It Is Claimed

Another remake of a classic Assassin’s Creed game is currently in the works alongside Black Flag Resynced, according to multiple trusted sources.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced’s Map Remains Familiar, But with Some Neat Extras

That being said, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced still aims to preserve everything that fans loved about the original, which the newly revealed world map seems to align with. An Assassin’s Creed fan account named Zephryss shared a look at the upcoming marketing materials for Resynced, and chief among the documents is the complete world map for the remake’s rendition of the Caribbean, preserving the same layout and locations from the original game. The manuscript-style map includes all the major hubs and ports of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag’s open world, including the major cities of Havana, Nassau, and Kingston, plus a look at the 50 islands that pepper Edward Kenway’s Caribbean playground.

However, keen-eyed fans will notice that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced’s map has more to it than the original game did. Resynced includes Sacrifice Island, Black Island, and Mystery Island in the top left, top right, and bottom right corners of the map, respectively. These three islands were originally part of the “Illustrious Pirates Pack,” which suggests that items like the Captain Morgan outfit might be present in the remake as well. Details regarding other potential DLC packs included in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced are still unknown, with the exception of Freedom Cry, which has been omitted.

While the world map for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced remains largely the same, that doesn’t mean that Ubisoft can’t take this opportunity to impress fans with what it can do with this remake. At the time of its release, Black Flag had one of the most impressive open-world maps that fans had seen, limited only by consoles that forced loading screens between sections of the Caribbean. What’s more, common old-school video game boundaries like mountains, rocks, and invisible walls made many areas that fans would have liked to explore completely inaccessible. In the era of massive, seamless open worlds, Black Flag can definitely feel like a product of its time.

With Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, Ubisoft has the opportunity to fully flesh out the Caribbean to meet modern open-world standards. The massive jungles that players could never access could hold new treasures, bringing even more depth to a fan-favorite Assassin’s Creed title, especially if the new missions take advantage of the newfound space. And maybe with Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced‘s expanded territories, fans can finally go to Florida, like they have wished for so many years.
