PlayStation Plus subscribers already know of at least one of the new games they will get to play with the Extra/Premium update coming on Tuesday, May 19. The PlayStation Plus lineup is typically updated twice every month. The first update comes on the first Tuesday of the month, and that’s when the new monthly free PS Plus games are added to the Essential tier.
This month, the free PS Plus games are EA Sports FC 26, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, and Nine Sols. PlayStation Plus subscribers across all tiers have until Monday, June 1 to claim these games for their digital libraries, and they will retain access to them for as long as they are subscribed to the service. The free games are a perk of the Essential tier of the service, but it’s worth pointing out that those signed up for the Extra and Premium tiers of PS Plus get access to them as well, plus their own games.
Opinion: PS Plus Has Added Way Too Many Sports Games for My Dollar
PlayStation Plus is, broadly speaking, a pretty good deal, but the influx of sports games, most of which are from a previous season, dampers it.
Time Crisis is Coming to PS Plus Premium
Whereas the PS Plus Essential lineup is typically updated on the first Tuesday of each month, the Extra and Premium games library is updated in the middle of the month. PS Plus subscribers can expect the next Extra and Premium update to arrive on Tuesday, May 19, though much of what to expect remains a mystery at the time of this writing. Sony will almost certainly reveal the new PS Plus Extra and Premium games coming in May 2026 on Wednesday, May 13, but we already know of one game in advance. As previously announced, Time Crisis will be added to the Premium tier of PS Plus on May 19.

For those that may be unfamiliar with the game, Time Crisis is an on-rails first-person shooter that used a light-gun peripheral on the PlayStation 1. Time Crisis earned mostly positive reviews at the time of its PS1 release in 1997, though some may be wondering how its light-gun gameplay will work on PS Plus Premium. It’s been confirmed that the game will make use of gyroscopic aiming to help replicate the experience of using a light-gun, though the jury is still out on how exactly this will be received by fans when the game is added to PS Plus Premium on May 19.
The other new games coming to PS Plus Extra and Premium in May 2026 have yet to be revealed at the time of this writing. The new Premium games are usually few in number, so it’s possible Time Crisis will be the only Premium-specific addition, but fans will just have to wait for the announcement to come on May 13 to be sure. Luckily, PS Plus Premium subscribers also get to play all the games added to the Extra tier, so there should be plenty to check out regardless.

Unfortunately, Time Crisis‘ PS Plus Premium debut on May 19 will coincide with at least eight titles leaving the service. The PS Plus games leaving on May 19 include two Dark Picture games, the Sand Land game that was worked on by the late Akira Toriyama, Soulslike Mortal Shell, and Control: Ultimate Edition, the critically-acclaimed third-person shooter/action-adventure game from Remedy Entertainment, along with some other titles.
