Some Forza Horizon 6 fans have voiced disappointment over the game’s sparse Volvo lineup while sharing their early impressions of Playground Games’ latest title. The Volvo selection marks a notable downgrade from the previous entry in the franchise, though there is still a chance that future Forza Horizon 6 updates will introduce more vehicles from the famed Swedish carmaker.
The sixth mainline entry in Playground Games’ popular open-world racing franchise is scheduled to launch for Xbox Series X/S and PC on May 19. However, players who purchased the $120 Premium Edition of Forza Horizon 6 have had access since May 15, with the same early-access benefit also available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers who bought the $60 Premium Edition Upgrade. As a result, the internet is already rife with discussion of the much-anticipated title, covering everything from its broader feature set to its vehicle roster.

Forza Horizon 6 Is Launching With Just 1 Volvo Car, Disappointing Some Fans
Some of the current early adopter discussion has come from Volvo fans, many of whom appear disappointed by the Swedish manufacturer’s limited presence in the first Forza Horizon game set in Japan. That sentiment was recently reflected in a highly upvoted Reddit post by user Wat_an_absolute_unit, who noted that although Forza Horizon 6 will feature more than 550 vehicles at launch, only one of them is a Volvo: the 1983 Volvo 242 Turbo Evolution. By comparison, Forza Horizon 5 launched a comparable number of vehicles, including three Volvo models. It eventually added another one, though it took years to do so.

“It’s not like Volvo is a niche brand,” Wat_an_absolute_unit wrote, arguing that the manufacturer deserved stronger representation in what is shaping up to be the biggest racing games in recent years. The post drew hundreds of upvotes and reached the front page of the r/ForzaHorizon subreddit in the days leading up to Forza Horizon 6‘s global release.
Like its predecessors, Forza Horizon 6 is set to receive extensive seasonal content and DLC, both of which should significantly expand its vehicle roster over time. For context, Forza Horizon 5 nearly doubled its launch-day car list over roughly four years of active support. Its post-launch additions included the 2013 Volvo C30 Polestar, which arrived in an October 2024 update. That precedent leaves room for Forza Horizon 6 to add more Volvo vehicles in the future, though a major expansion of the brand’s representation appears unlikely.

Volvo is not the only Swedish manufacturer with limited representation in Playground Games’ latest release. It is not even the most neglected, as Forza Horizon 6 does not include any Saab vehicles. That absence is not especially unusual for the series, however, as Saab has been missing from the broader Forza franchise since 2011’s Forza Motorsport 4 and has never appeared in a Forza Horizon game.
