Steam users have yet another free game to claim for their digital libraries, with Warhammer 40,000: Gladius – Relics of War free on the platform for a limited time. Steam users are treated to free games on a regular basis, to the point where it’s rare when there isn’t something free to claim on the platform. The catch is that all free Steam games are only available to claim for a limited time, so those that miss their window of opportunity are out of luck.

Sci-fi strategy game Warhammer 40,000: Gladius – Relics of War is free to claim on Steam until Thursday, May 28 at 11:00am CST. This means that Steam users have about a week to snag the game for their digital libraries. Anyone that claims Warhammer 40,000: Gladius – Relics of War while it’s free will get to keep it forever, no strings attached. Normally, the game retails for $39.99, so Steam users have the chance to get a $40 game without paying a single dime. The game earned somewhat mixed reviews from professional critics at the time of its release in 2018, but the Steam user reviews have been much more positive, with Warhammer 40,000: Gladius – Relics of War earning a “Very Positive” overall rating.

For those unfamiliar with the game, Warhammer 40,000: Gladius – Relics of War is a 4X strategy game — the first from the Warhammer 40K universe ever released. Players choose between one of four iconic Warhammer 40K factions (Astra Militarum, Space Marines, Orks, and Necrons) and fight in turn-based battles. Strategy games like this are admittedly fairly niche compared to some other game genres out there, but even if you aren’t normally a 4X fan, there’s no harm in claiming Warhammer 40,000: Gladius – Relics of War while it’s free on Steam and giving it a shot yourself.

While Warhammer 40,000: Gladius – Relics of War is the only Warhammer 40K game that is totally free to keep right now, Steam users have some free trials for other games in the franchise to try as well. The critically-acclaimed Total War: Warhammer 3 is free to play on Steam until May 25, and it’s also heavily discounted to just $8.99 for a limited time. Meanwhile, Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector is free to play until May 28.

As far as other Steam freebies go, there are currently two others up for grabs at the time of this writing. The AquaDream soundtrack is free on Steam until May 25, while Dino Running from a Furry: GAMESFORFARM is free on Steam until May 30. It’s likely that even more free games will be given away on Steam before May is over, so PC gamers should keep an eye out for more freebies.
