Beware: These Cursed Grogu Mods Turn Innocent Games Into Total Nightmare Fuel

On a planet far, far away, lies a magical universe filled with modders who have worked tirelessly to give birth to beautiful creations that have brought joy to the lives of many. We won’t be talking about those today.

To celebrate the fact that Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu is about as “fine” as a movie can be, come with me down a strange rabbit hole that leaves visitors either surprised or horrified. We are talking about video game Grogu mods, and not those that add him relatively seamlessly to games like Star Wars: Battlefront 2. No, these mods shine for the exact opposite reason: Grogu doesn’t fit the game’s world, and the game’s world doesn’t fit him. These creations also bring joy to the lives of many, although it might be a different type of pleasure than usual.

I cannot promise the following images will not deeply scar you. Grogu might haunt your dreams, become the monster behind your night terrors, or the man in the darkness during your sleep paralysis hallucinations. You have been warned.

Also, I am NOT criticizing these mods. I love the fact that they exist, and kudos to the modders who created them.

Grogu, The Kung Fu Mecha Fighter (Sifu Mod)

OK, This One Ain’t Too Bad, And Grogu Looks Kind Of Sick

Let’s start things off with a Sifu mod that is, honestly, pretty cool. Despite being a relatively small game in the grand scheme of things, SloClap’s Kung Fu epic has a really robust modding scene, which makes sense since the premise sells itself: Swap Sifu‘s protagonist for a recognizable character. There are over 1000 character mods alone, which is absurd. A lot of the most popular ones make perfect sense: Batman, The Matrix‘s Neo, Chun-Li (Street Fighter), Daredevil, Bruce Lee (naturally), and Final Fantasy 7‘s Tifa (naturally). Then, there are the more “hmm, I guess why not” mods like Makoto (Persona 5), Art the Clown (Terrifier), Snow White, and Tintin.

Then, we have our boy Grogu. To be clear, the creator, Arbek, did about as good a job as you can reasonably expect. Grogu’s small stature is an inescapable challenge since he doesn’t directly slot into the Sifu protagonist role, but turning the hover pram into essentially a mini-mech is a stroke of genius. The models are detailed as well, with both Grogu and the pram being fairly accurate to the source material. Yeah, this Grogu mod is closer to charmed than cursed, even if it is ultimately a novelty that most people will probably swap out quickly.

You know what, this might not be that traumatizing.

Grogu Swallows A LEGO Brick (LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga)

You Know What, This Is Quite Traumatizing

Wow, OK, things have taken a turn.

Considering Grogu is officially in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, the fact that this mod manages to produce such a glorious monstrosity is a testament to the creator’s dedication to the bit. If this mod de-aged Yoda’s model and called it a day, the result would not be memorable (although still cool).

Going down this route led to something truly magical that could only exist in a special corner of the internet, and it will linger in the minds of viewers long after they move past their initial “what the hell” reaction. This version of the legendary Star Wars character mostly looks like Grogu’s head mounted onto the decapitated body of a (really muscular) brick, a choice that shouldn’t work but kind of does. This version of Grogu would carry Mando on his back.

You know what, that was shocking at first, but it gradually becomes funny once you get used to it. Honestly, these aren’t too bad.

I Miss It… The Life I Knew Before This Mod

Some things should not be. Dayus99 created two mods that replace Barret and Marlene with Mando and Grogu. The former looks pretty great, to be honest, while the latter is a wildly different type of “great.” It is “great” in the way that creepypastas are great, as a visceral thrill that arises from witnessing something that should not exist.

To be fair, I don’t know if it is possible to add Grogu to Final Fantasy 7 Remake without making him look like a hellspawn; even if it were possible, would it really be a better alternative than this? It might be easier on the eyes, but then we wouldn’t live in a reality where we could witness Marlene’s voice and lines coming out of a version of Grogu who has been left out in the sun for too long.
