Some games are just meant to become viral sensations. Meccha Chameleon seems like one of those. It’s one of Steam’s latest big breakouts this month and is circulating on just about every social media platform you can think of. The Prop Hunt-style multiplayer game from lemorion_1224 has players hide in the environment by painting their otherwise bright white character to camouflage it among their surroundings. There are some pretty clever works of art players have managed to use to hide themselves, but one surprising strategy has helped the game break containment on social media: people are turning their characters into horse cocks.
One of the many surfaces you can hide on in Meccha Chameleon is a horse statue. The steed is on its hind legs, proudly neighing after it won a great battle, probably. That means that its underside is exposed and you can easily attach your avatar to it. Meccha Chameleon gives you multiple poses to choose from that can help you blend into the environment and at a glance, one of them looks like…well…a dick and balls. So because one plus one equals two, the horse cock meta was born and creators like Northernlion are using it.
As the strategy becomes more well-known, folks will stop using it, but it is a very funny gag. While the horse dick is mostly a joke that has worked surprisingly well for some, Meccha Chameleon’s players have also pulled off some other really impressive acts of artistic stealth since the game’s launch last week.
Meccha Chameleon has peaked at over 244k concurrent players according to SteamDB, and even right now, in the middle of the afternoon, it has over 144k players doing online hide and seek (the game is just $6). It was probably a smart move to launch while kids are out of school for the summer.
