Here’s When PS Plus Extra’s Missing June 2026 Games Finally Go Live

For years, PlayStation Plus subscribers have gotten used to a specific pattern for game releases on the service. At the end of every month, the next month’s Essential games are unveiled, and these drop on the first Tuesday. Then, come the third Tuesday of that month, the Extra games usually drop in one large batch, giving PS Plus users a host of new experiences to enjoy. However, June 2026 served as an end of an era for the service, as Sony is experimenting with new ways to deliver PS Plus Extra games.

Players saw these changes firsthand when Sonic X Shadow Generations came to PS Plus Extra earlier than expected. Alongside this early release, players received a few of the expected games on the June 16 date, those being Gitaroo Man and Final Fantasy 16. However, those that don’t keep up with the PS Blog will have surely been expecting more games to drop on this June 16 date, and will likely have been left scratching their heads wondering where their games are when they didn’t appear. Confused players can check below for the Extra additions coming throughout the remainder of the month, with two more drops planned.

PS Plus is Losing At Least 12 Games in July 2026

PlayStation Plus is losing a hefty number of games in July 2026, removing at least 12 titles, including a popular roguelike and a sim game.

PS Plus Extra’s Remaining June 2026 Games Drop in Two Waves

  • Wave 1: June 23

    • Kingdom Come: Deliverance
    • Life is Strange: Double Exposure
  • Wave 2: June 30

    • Farming Simulator 25
    • Blades of Fire
    • Black Desert

It’s the first of these two waves that many subscribers will likely be looking forward to the most, as it contains two high profile releases. Kingdom Come: Deliverance being available on PS Plus Extra is a great way to get fans into the immersive RPG franchise, letting them grow attached to Henry before leaping into the critically acclaimed sequel. Life is Strange: Double Exposure is another “prep work” addition of sorts, as it allows players to see what Max has been up to prior to her reuniting with Chloe in Life is Strange: Reunion.

The second wave is a bit more niche with its focus on farming, underrated action titles, and MMOs, but there is serious potential for players to get lost in the yard work of Farming Simulator 25 or the character creator of Black Desert. And for those that don’t look down on 7/10 games, Blades of Fire could easily be something they enjoy spending their time in. With three games in the second wave, over half of the PS Plus Extra titles for June 2026 released after the expected date, with only one coming before the typical mid-month drop. Whether Sony tries to add more titles to the initial wave going forward, as opposed to just one game like with Sonic, will be interesting to watch unfold.

The Length of Sony’s PS Plus Experiments is a Big Question Mark

Currently, PS Plus subscribers have no idea whether the Extra games will return to being released all at once, or if July will establish a proper pattern of staggered releases. Similarly, Sony hasn’t provided details about why the shift was made; the main theory among gamers is that it’s looking to increase the perceived value of the Extra tier by giving subscribers new games every single week, even if they are still receiving the same amount of content overall. Alongside retaining subscribers, the move could be a way to get players talking about something other than the monthly PS Plus price increase.

If players either like or dislike this change, making their voices heard will be important. Official forums like the PlayStation Blog where this big PS Plus change was announced, social media platforms like Reddit, and surveys will all be viable methods of letting Sony know what one thinks. For the rest of June 2026, and potentially longer than that since Sony may need more data, fans should be prepared for small, weekly Extra releases instead of massive mid-month drops.
