Pokemon GO Fan Has Valid Complaint About Community Days

A Pokemon GO fan is making a strong argument about the timing of the game’s monthly Community Day events, bringing up valid health concerns with the event. Pokemon GO‘s Community Day events have been held at the same time of day since 2022.

Community Days have been among the most popular recurring events in the mobile spin-off of the beloved monster-catching franchise. Each month puts a different Pokemon in the spotlight for a limited time, with Niantic typically sharing the dates for future Community Day events months in advance. The monthly events feature both increased spawn rates and Shiny rates for the spotlight Pokemon, also gaining access to a special Charged Attack when evolved to its final stage during the event. However, one fan has a valid reason why Pokemon GO should consider changing the times of Community Days.

Pokemon GO Reveals July 2026 Community Day Pokemon

Niantic reveals a new Community Day event for July, as Pokemon GO gives the spotlight to a fan favorite from the Galar region.

Pokemon GO fan Common_Race_8396 shared their complaints about the timing for Community Day events on the game’s subreddit. The poster mentions that they live in a rural town in the South, presumably within the United States, and shares that temperatures during Community Days can get as high as 93°F, or roughly 34°C. The Reddit user shared that their phone began to slow down significantly as a result of overheating just 20 minutes after leaving their house to participate in the event. The post suggests that the high temperatures during summer months could endanger players’ health while trying to play Pokemon GO, increasing the risk of heat exhaustion during Community Day.

The comments to the post were filled with other fans echoing the recurring issues with Community Day scheduling. One commenter suggested that Pokemon GO‘s Community Day events should last throughout the entire day, which has been a common request from players. Another user proposed a “rain check” for Community Day that would allow fans to start the event at a different time or on a different day, useful for both the original heat complaint and for inclement weather. Others, however, did suggest that the original poster should consider driving to somewhere that has an indoor location where they can play Pokemon GO.

The proposed changes arrive as Pokemon GO continues to feature a multitude of time-specific events. Hatch Day events run on similar schedules to the game’s Community Days, with fans encouraged to go out and walk with reduced hatch distance and increased XP and Stardust. Pokemon GO‘s Spotlight Hours also run for specific windows on Thursdays, with the events typically featuring significantly boosted spawn rates that only last for one hour.

Pokemon GO looks to have a busy summer ahead for fans with lots of exciting events on the schedule for the spin-off. Niantic kicked off 2026’s Pokemon GO Fest in June, holding multiple in-person events in cities like Chicago, Copenhagen, and Tokyo. The global version of the event is set to run during the weekend of July 11–12, with Mega Mewtwo X and Y being added to the game for the first time. The event also offers increased spawns for several featured Pokemon, including three different Pikachu variants wearing the hats of Pokemon GO‘s teams and the Kanto starters wearing Pikachu visors. Pokemon GO Fest 2026 should offer plenty of incentive for fans to go out and play.
