New Official Diablo Release Leaked

New Official Diablo Release Leaked

It appears as though a new Diablo release is right around the corner, if a recent leak is any indication. Diablo is quite easily one of Blizzard’s most popular franchises, and so it makes sense that the company tries to bring the action-RPG to as many platforms as possible. Indeed, Diablo 3 had quite the run, spanning multiple generations of consoles.

The initial release of Diablo 3 was PC-only, but then the game was brought to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. After that, Blizzard released native PS4 and Xbox One versions of Diablo 3, before finally bringing the game to Nintendo Switch six years after its initial launch. Diablo 3 on Nintendo Switch even included some platform-exclusive content, with Blizzard including amiibo support and adding content based on Nintendo’s beloved Legend of Zelda franchise. The Switch version of Diablo 3 earned critical acclaim and is generally considered one of the better ways to play the games thanks to its portability, and so many have long assumed that its follow-up, Diablo 4, would eventually make its way to the Switch 2.

There is indeed evidence to suggest that Diablo 4 is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 at some point in the near future. A Diablo 4 Switch 2 rating from Taiwan has appeared online, and typically game ratings pop up when a game is getting close to release. Notably, the rating is for Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred specifically, which is the latest expansion pack that has been released for the game. This suggests that Diablo 4 will come to the Switch 2 at some point before the next expansion drops.

Since the Diablo 4 base game launched in 2023 to rave reviews, Blizzard has supported the game with substantial free updates as well as paid expansions. The first Diablo 4 expansion, Vessel of Hatred, released in 2024 and added the Spiritborn class to the game along with the new Nahantu jungle region. Vessel of Hatred earned similar acclaim as the base game, as did the second expansion, Lord of Hatred.

Like Vessel of Hatred, Lord of Hatred added a new region to Diablo 4, with players now able to explore Skovos. Additionally, Lord of Hatred has introduced the Paladin and Warlock classes to the game, giving players even more options whenever they decide to create a new character. If the Switch 2 version is coming with the Lord of Hatred subtitle, it’s not outlandish to assume that these classes and everything else added in the expansion will be part of the package, but it’s also possible that Switch 2 gamers will just get the base game and will have to buy the DLC separately.

Details like this will be ironed out whenever Blizzard decides to officially announce Diablo 4 for the Nintendo Switch 2. Leaks of the game have been consistent enough that an announcement is a matter of when, not if, at this point, but time will tell when Blizzard decides to reveal it.
