New Official Demon Slayer Release Confirmed for October 29

While the Demon Slayer anime has not had a new season of TV since 2024, the beloved franchise has kept kicking with the recent and upcoming releases of the Infinity Castle movies, and now there’s a new release slated for October. Given the popularity of Demon Slayer, despite it being younger than some anime counterparts, this should come as no surprise.

Demon Slayer‘s Infinity Castle movies are obviously the big thing right now, as the planned film trilogy by Ufotable adapts the final story arcs of the manga. It’s set as a direct sequel to the Hashira Training Arc, and it plunges the beloved characters into the Infinity Castle—Muzan’s terrifying fortress. And alongside this newest release is a continued celebration of Infinity Castle.

After 1 Year, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Finally Reveals Streaming Release Date

Infinity Castle is officially hitting streaming giant Crunchyroll after a long wait.

Hinkokami Chronicles 2 Gets a New Life on Switch 2 Hardware

Demon Slayer is getting a full Switch 2 release later this year, with developer Cyberconnect2 and publisher Sega bringing the 8/10 Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2 to Nintendo’s next-gen console in a complete, all-in-one package. The new edition bundles the base game with its full post-launch DLC lineup, positioning it as one of the more notable anime game releases planned for Switch 2 so far, and that includes all 54 playable Demon Slayer characters, including the full Infinity Castle DLC roster. The Infinity Castle characters include:

  • Tanjiro Kamado (Infinity Castle)
  • Zenitsu Agatsuma (Infinity Castle)
  • Giyu Tomioka (Infinity Castle)
  • Shinobu Kocho (Infinity Castle)
  • Doma
  • Akaza (Infinity Castle)
  • Kaigaku

Sega also confirmed the game will release both physically and digitally on Switch 2, with more information on physical editions coming later. Players who already own the original Switch version will be able to upgrade to the Switch 2 edition for free, but the Infinity Castle character pass will still need to be purchased separately if players want full roster access. There are also additional bonuses tied to save data from previous Demon Slayer games on Switch:

  • Save data from The Hinokami Chronicles unlocks 6 Kimetsu Academy characters:

    • Academy Tanjiro
    • Academy Nezuko
    • Academy Zenitsu
    • Academy Inosuke
    • Academy Giyu
    • Academy Shinobu
  • Save data from Sweep the Board! unlocks:

    • Hinatsuru, Makio, and Suma (as a single playable character)
    • Kimono battle attire set (Hinatsuru, Makio, Suma)

This release follows a familiar pattern for modern arena fighters, especially anime fighting games. Games like Hinokami Chronicles 2 often expand through multiple DLC waves after launch, gradually building out rosters tied to major story arcs. Over time, this usually leads to “complete editions” that consolidate everything into a single package, especially when a new platform becomes part of the equation. The Switch 2 version is essentially the end result of that cycle, offering everything in one place for new and returning players.

With all of that in place, the key takeaway is simple: Sega is positioning Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2 on Switch 2 as the definitive version of the arena fighting game. Launching October 29, it arrives as a complete package with all 54 characters, full Infinity Castle DLC integration, and multiple upgrade paths for returning players, making it the most fully realized edition of the game yet on Nintendo’s next-generation hardware.
