Ubisoft Says 2026 Will Be Light on Major Releases Outside Assassin’s Creed

Adrian has been writing, critiquing, and thinking about games since he first picked up an N64 controller many years ago. These days he writes reviews, news, and features for Game Rant and believes games should be held to the same artistic standards as books, movies, and television shows. When he’s not writing for Game Rant, Adrian writes even more reviews for Sirus Gaming and likes to get nerdy about tech and retro games at HackerNoon. Outside the gaming world, he spends plenty of time enjoying movies or listening to every genre of music under the sun. Follow him on Twitter for nonsense tweets likely related to Dragon Ball Z, or check out Breadhouse Records for some tunes.

Following the release of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, Ubisoft has confirmed that the remainder of 2026 will feature a lighter lineup of major releases than previous years. Ubisoft has been in the midst of a major reorganization for the past few years as the publisher continues to piece together how it will move forward with its biggest franchises.

As part of Ubisoft’s recent 2026 financial report (via GamesRadar), the company states that it expects a lighter release calendar for the remainder of fiscal year 2026 through March 31, 2027, when the fiscal year ends. The only major premium release left for the company to launch is Rayman Legends Retold in October, with nothing yet planned for spring 2027. However, Ubisoft has said that “significantly bigger” years are planned for the next couple of fiscal cycles, stretching from 2027 through 2029, with each of its biggest franchises returning during that period. The publisher remains committed to producing future entries in the Assassin’s Creed, Ghost Recon, and Far Cry franchises, with Far Cry in particular getting a massive series of leaks lately. Still, there is no word on smaller projects or the status of Ubisoft’s various development-hell projects, like Beyond Good and Evil 2 and the Splinter Cell remake.
