New Co-Op Life Sim Game Launches to Strong, 81% Very Positive Reviews

A brand-new co-op life simulation game called Go-Go Town! has launched on Steam and already boasts an impressive 81% positive user rating. In terms of gameplay, Go-Go Town! can be described as a blend of Animal Crossing and games like Cities: Skylines, combining cute visuals and cartoony citizens with deep town management mechanics in one Steam game.

Go-Go Town! is developed and published by indie studio Prideful Sloth, whose previous releases include Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles and Grow: Song of the Evertree. Both games also have Very Positive user review scores, underscoring the studio’s solid track record of releasing well-received indie games on Steam. Now, the team appears to have another hit on its hands with Go-Go Town!

Go-Go Town! Lets Friends Build an Adorable Settlement Together

Check Out Go-Go Town! on Steam

  • Developer: Prideful Sloth
  • Genre: Co-op, life sim, city builder
  • Release date: July 16, 2026 (early access started in 2024)
  • Price: $27.99

In Go-Go Town!, players take on the role of a mayor tasked with building and growing a tourist town. Like many other cozy life simulation games, Prideful Sloth’s sim begins with a nearly abandoned settlement, and as players gather resources and construct new facilities and shops, more residents move in, helping the town thrive. What sets Go-Go Town! apart is its support for up to four players in both online and local co-op, allowing multiple mayors to work together in the same session.

  • Cute, Animal Crossing-esque 3D visuals
  • Four-player local and online co-op
  • Extensive customization options
  • In-depth town management mechanics

Go-Go Town!‘s 1.0 release is priced at $27.99, but players can pick it up for 25% off until July 30, 2026. That limited-time discount brings the price down to around $21 USD.

Go-Go Town! has been among Steam’s early-access games since June 2024, and according to SteamDB, it recently set a new peak concurrent player count with more than 2,300 players. A look at the game’s reviews throughout its early access period also shows that Go-Go Town! has been a hit since the beginning. It currently holds a 93% positive overall user rating on Steam, putting it within reach of the platform’s prestigious Overwhelmingly Positive review designation.

Players can also try Go-Go Town! through its free Steam demo before deciding whether to purchase the full game.

Developer Prideful Sloth has introduced several new features with the game’s 1.0 release. The biggest addition is Creative Mode, which “lets [players] fully take the reins and build with no limits, no money needed and a new map on which to make that happen.”

The update also introduces Treasure Hunting, a system similar to Stardew Valley‘s artifacts, where players collect rare items such as relics and fossils to display in a dedicated exhibit. The 1.0 update also includes several quality-of-life improvements. For example, all vehicles can now be driven off-road, removing one of the game’s biggest movement restrictions.

The release of the 1.0 version is clearly not the end of the road for Go-Go Town!. Developer Prideful Sloth has shared a ton of new content and a plethora of features planned for future updates. In the first quarter of 2027, for example, vehicle customization is coming to Go-Go Town!, while the team plans to focus the rest of its post-launch support on improving the game based on player feedback.
