Satisfactory is to automation/factory building games what Stardew Valley is to farming simulation games, and fans will get to see more of the 10/10 factory building game in action later this year. Satisfactory is no doubt one of the best IP to come out of Coffee Stain Studios and Coffee Stain Publishing, so it’s no surprise to see the company expanding its domain.
After all, Satisfactory‘s reviews speak for themselves. Since its launch in September 2024, so not even a full two years, it has amassed over 136,000 reviews on Steam earning itself a 97% Overwhelmingly Positive review standing. It’s the de facto open-world co-op crafting game, and now fans will be able to explore an alien planet, build factories, and execute long-term goals in an all-new way.
Satisfactory: The Board Game is Official
In collaboration with Mood Publishing, Satisfactory developer Coffee Stain has confirmed that players can now play the game in real life, without an engineering degree, thanks to its upcoming board game. It’s set to host a community-backed fundraising campaign on Gamefound before releasing later this year in 2026. Described as a “1-4 player competitive sandbox engine-builder tabletop experience,” the Satisfactory board game has two important endgoals: finish the Space Elevator and become Employee of the Month, all while of course having the most efficient factory network possible.
Scratch & Peek

possible.
The trailer shows how Satisfactory‘s board game works in practice, complete with various steps and unique mechanics:
- Production Planning via Hexagon Tiles
- Build Your Factory + Optimize Your Supply Chain
- Unlock New Technologies
It’s worth noting that translating Satisfactory‘s gameplay loop into a board game is a pretty obvious idea, as in it would fit so perfectly, but Moon Publishing explained the goal wasn’t to recreate the game, but to successfully translate its mechanics so any board game enthusiast coudl enjoy it. That should be true whether or not someone has finished the Space Elevator in Satisfactory. Right now, however, the Satisfactory board game is in the “upcoming” phase of Gamefound so fans can sign up to follow and support the campaign however they can. There’s currently over 5000 people following the campaign, which is an impressive number of followers in a short amount of time.

It’s uncertain if Coffee Stain will ever pursue Satisfactory 2, as tempting as it might be, because it sets such a strong precedent. Any sequel would be hard to scratch that same satisfactory itch. Not to mention, there are plenty of games like Satisfactory out there, but few come close in terms of quality, efficiency, productivity, or making all three things of those fun while scratching a very specific brain itch. It remains to be seen if the board game can accomplish that too, but it’ll be interesting to see.
Find the odd one out before the timer hits zero.
Fans can expect more news on the Satisfactory board game in the coming days and weeks, and fans of board games and/or satisfactory should be sure to keep an eye on it alongside other board games releasing in 2026.
