Final Fantasy 6 is often considered one of the best entries in the entire series, and protagonist Terra Branford plays no small part in that acclaim. Although Final Fantasy 6 really has an ensemble cast of 14 potential party members, players will spend most of their time getting to know Terra and her tragic backstory. Now, Terra is set to return to the franchise once again on October 22 when Final Fantasy Resonance releases.
A Final Fantasy 6 remake or remaster has been something high on the wish lists of many series fans for quite some time. Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will conclude the FF7 remake trilogy next year, and Square Enix is open to future Final Fantasy remakes, with FF7 Remake director Naoki Hamaguchi even citing Final Fantasy 6 as a potential option for the treatment. Since Square Enix hasn’t officially confirmed a Final Fantasy 6 remake at this point, Terra’s appearance in Final Fantasy Resonance will have to be the next best thing.
Terra Will Represent FF6 in Final Fantasy Resonance
Final Fantasy Resonance is the next major Square Enix game to adopt the HD-2D art style that has become so popular with recent games like Octopath Traveler and the Dragon Quest HD-2D remakes. As an offline reimagining of the mobile game Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, FF Resonance will adopt many of the features from the mobile game, including the Visions mechanic. These Visions act similarly to Summons in other Final Fantasy games, allowing players to call upon iconic characters from the franchise for help in battle. So far, each numbered Final Fantasy game will have representation by a Vision:

Terra will be joining a roster of other iconic Final Fantasy protagonists like Tidus, Clive, and Lightning returning in Final Fantasy Resonance as Visions. As a half-human, half-Esper, Terra can utilize the Trance command to take on her Esper form, which doubles the effectiveness of her attacks in Final Fantasy 6. Her Vision version in Resonance sees her briefly enter her Trance form while casting her signature Riot Blade skill for massive damage to the enemy.
Fans of Terra and Final Fantasy 6 will get to see her in action when Final Fantasy Resonance launches on October 22 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 1/2. In the meantime, fans itching to relive Terra’s story ahead of Resonance‘s launch can play the enhanced version of Final Fantasy 6 via its Pixel Remaster on these platforms.
Final Fantasy Brave Exvius officially shut down on October 30, 2024, but fans who missed out on the mobile game can get a similar experience in Final Fantasy Resonance.
Outside of Final Fantasy 6, Terra has a fairly significant presence throughout the franchise in spin-off games. Terra has appeared in the Dissidia Final Fantasy games, most recently in Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy, as well as the Theatrhythm Final Fantasy games. She has even expanded her horizons beyond Final Fantasy to make guest appearances in Puzzle & Dragons, Yokai Watch, and as a card in the Magic: The Gathering crossover with Final Fantasy.
