The Fighting Game Releases Major New Update For August 2026

A major new update has arrived for Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game, adding a number of new improvements and features, while also addressing issues with many of the game’s playable characters. Launching ahead of the fighting game crush that’s currently happening in August and beyond, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game earned plenty of positive word of mouth from players thanks to its unique gameplay style and visual design reminiscent of the original animated shows.

Reviews for Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game have been generally positive, with a few shortcomings mentioned. While the expressive gameplay and impressive visual style were the standouts for many, some have noted a disappointing story mode and missing options being a slight disappointment. However, it’s clear that the launch of Avatar Legends is the start of the journey, as the development teams continue to release new updates adding in improvements and features, while some bigger DLC is planned for later this year. The latest patch for the game even adds a highly requested feature.

How to Get Coins in Avatar Legends (Currency Guide)

Avatar Legends players can unlock Support Characters or Upgrades and more by farming Coins. Here are all the ways you can get Coins in Avatar Legends.

Following on the heels of the first major update for Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game, Gameplay Group International has released another major patch that fans can now download. For now, it is only available for PC and PS5 players and adds a new number of new enhancements to the game, such as a Replay Takeover. This feature adds another layer to replays, allowing players to pause the replay at any time and then jump in as one of the players to experience what is going on. Other fighting games, like Street Fighter 6, have a similar tool, and it is a popular one with players, especially those who want to learn how to deal with specific gameplay situations.

In addition to Replay Takeover, additional performance improvements were made to the PS5 version, localization fixes were applied, and crossplay between PC and PS5 was re-enabled after it was taken down briefly. Unfortunately, there’s been no update as of yet for a dedicated Rank Mode release. Not only that, fans are still waiting for some sort of update for the surprisingly delayed Xbox version of Avatar Legends, which happened only hours before its scheduled release.

The update also fixes a number of bugs with the game and throughout its playable roster of characters. The dev team made additional adjustments to the hurt boxes for knockdown attacks across the entire roster to help smooth out gameplay. Certain moves during Aang and Kyoshi’s wind summon abilities also had bugs where they could loop at unintended positions. Avatar Legends Sokka and Zaheer have received the most targetted fixes as well, with the former getting some boomerang improvements, while the latter saw some assist adjustments.

In addition to these updates, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game has new DLC on the horizon. While no dates have been shared yet, fans are well aware of the revealed Season 1 characters of Bolin, Lin, Iroh, and Ty Lee, with the 5th spot to be decided by a fan vote between Amon, King Bumi, Asami Sato, Kuvira, or Tenzin. However, following the game’s launch on July 23, the team surprisingly announced a free roster addition coming this Fall as Tagah from the Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender movie.

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game August 6 Character Patch Notes

ALL:

  • Standardized hurtboxes for knockdowns across cast – they were similar before but slightly off leading to some incongruent behavior, now should behave generally the same.
  • Fixed bugs where using certain moves would loop at unintended positions during Wind Summon (Aang/Kyoshi’s pushing/pulling wind).

AZULA:

  • Removed ability to jump cancel into stand throw from Ignition Step (Run) (F+Flow).

KATARA:

  • Fixed bug where she was able to cancel the startup of her Cascading Strike attack series (QCF+ATK) into EX Water Whip Stance (QCB+2ATK).
  • Fixed bug where air Water Whip (j.QCB+ATK) and Frigid Snap (j.QCF+ATK) would store improper travel speeds.

NIGHTMARE KORRA:

  • -Removed unintended Hard Knockdown from Wildfire Splitter (QCB+B).

SOKKA:

  • -Fixed Boomerang projectile not scaling properly in combos. EX Boomerang still has better scaling for now for cool factor.

  • -Fixed 10+ Sword Level setting his opponent’s size on hit which lead to some hilarious results (enormous characters).

TOPH:

  • Fixed weird camera behavior on pulling opponent with Shifting Earth (B+Flow) while she stands next to a Champ’s Ring wall near camera corner.

ZAHEER:

  • Fixed behavior with Critical Hit ground throw hitting at same time as Ghazan’s boomerang.
  • Fixed behavior with Ming-Hua losing collision on whiffed throws.
  • Fixed ability to restand opponents with j.C if hitting them at same time as Ming-Hua’s OTG hit.

ZUKO:

  • Fixed Combustion Boost (Upward) (j.Flow) carrying much more momentum than intended.
