A master LEGO builder manages to turn the Halloween Pumpkin Lantern set into Pokemon‘s Charmander without using any additional pieces. LEGO has recently launched a massive new wave of sets on August 1, and there will be even more releases throughout the rest of the year and the next. LEGO released multiple Pokemon sets on August 1, but many of them were Smart Play builds that feel a bit different in terms of how the critters look, and they are not for everyone.
Still, there were several regular LEGO Pokemon sets, including fantastic kits for Arcanine and Rayquaza. There are already leaks for LEGO Pokemon sets coming in 2027, so the collaboration is not stopping anytime soon. Even then, among the currently released sets, fans may not have what they’re looking for just yet. For example, the first wave for the collab included a set for Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise, but there wasn’t a proper Kanto starters set for the three base critters. As such, those who are looking for a cool Charmander build may have the perfect one from a totally unexpected source — the Halloween Pumpkin Lantern set.
Custom LEGO Pokemon Charmander Build From Halloween Pumpkin Set
Renowned LEGO expert builder Minute_Food_2881 shared a custom-made build of Pokemon‘s Charmander made entirely out of the 40872 Halloween Pumpkin Lantern set without additional pieces whatsoever. The original set features multiple orange pieces that Minute_Food_2881 used to make Charmander’s skin, whereas the yellow internal part of the pumpkin was used for the Pokemon’s belly. The small green pieces of the build were used for Charmander’s eyes and part of the base the creator used, whereas the white comes from the set’s small ghost. Finally, Charmander’s tail is made from the actual lantern to represent the pocket monster’s fire. While there are new LEGO Pokemon sets with Smart Bricks, including one for Charmander, the build is more rounded, smaller, and not necessarily as accurate.
For fans who want to settle for a nostalgia-inducing build, there is LEGO Pokemon Red set that represents the legendary trainer in upscaled minifigure fashion, complete with hat, backpack, and Poke Ball. However, without an official Charmander set beyond Smart Bricks, fans may want to replicate Minute_Food_2881’s incredible build. It’s worth noting that Minute_Food_2881 typically shares their builds on Rebrickable for a small fee, and the Charmander build from the Halloween Pumpkin Lantern set is already there for just $4. Considering it doesn’t use any extra pieces, fans can purchase the original set and be sure they’ll be able to build the cute Charmander with it.
Minute_Food_2881 has turned many sets into entirely new creations over time, and they are known for their many Millennium Falcon builds. Earlier this year, Minute_Food_2881 transformed LEGO Pokemon‘s Eevee set into a Bidoof with no extra pieces, and it became incredibly popular due to how well-made the Gen 4 creature was.
Then, the master builder even turned LEGO Pokemon‘s Eevee set into a Pinsir, making for an astonishingly accurate build. Whether fans like the actual LEGO Pokemon sets and Smart Brick builds, fan-made creations can be an exciting way to build even more pocket monsters out of other kits.
