PlayStation Plus has confirmed its first major PS Plus Extra game for September 2026 as releasing on September 15, while also later confirming a PS Plus Premium game likely to be added on the same date (although that is not outright confirmed like the PS Plus Extra game is). Fans do not have a full picture quite yet, but so far, it seems to be shaping up to be a great month.
As fans know, there’s a bit of a pattern to the reveal and releases of PS Plus games. The reveals are always on the Wednesday ahead of that specific Tuesday, as the PS Plus free games for September 1 were announced on August 26. Fans can expect a full reveal for PS Plus Extra and Premium on September 9 ahead of September 15, but one PS Plus Extra game has been outright confirmed date and all.
During the State of Play back in June, not to be confused with the most recent September State of Play, PlayStation confirmed several future PS Plus games. The last one of that list was confirmed to release day one on PS Plus on September 15, and it is RuneScape: Dragonwilds. Indeed, PS Plus Extra subscribers will be able to delve into the open-world survival-crafting game at no additional cost on September 15, and it’ll be a complete 1.0 release with a set-and-defined story and gameplay (beyond future support). It’s also going to launch day one on Xbox Game Pass.
What’s more, if for some reason players want to pay for it (as opposed to accessing it through a subscription), RuneScape: DragonWilds is not changing price for 1.0 on PCs or consoles. Sometimes Early Access games do that as it becomes more complete, but for those who have supported it so far and want to play it elsewhere, developer Jagex decided against raising the price. Beyond Runescape: Dragonwilds, a PS Plus Premium game was also confirmed for September, although it is not as set in stone as RS: DW.

During the most recent State of Play (the September one), Sony did confirm some upcoming PS Plus game additions too: Mycopunk for PS Plus Extra and Mega Man X Command Mission, Ratchet & Clank, and Dino Crisis 2 for PS Plus Premium. Mega Man X Command Mission was confirmed as a PS Plus Premium game for September, meaning it is likely releasing on September 15, but there’s no guarantee. PlayStation has begun experimenting with rolling out the PS Plus Extra games throughout the month instead of on one date, so without confirmation it’s hard to say whether or not Mega Man will, but the PS Plus Premium games do seem to drop on the first wave most of the time.

While there’s plenty of time between now and then, Mega Man X Command Mission is a teaser for the upcoming release of Mega Man: Dual Override. It’s officially Mega Man 12, minus the subtitle, and fans can check it out in 2027.
