Disco Elysium Successor Officially Coming to PS5 on November 3

Developer ZA/UM has announced that the spiritual successor to Disco Elysium, Zero Parades: For Dead Spies, will be launching on the PlayStation 5 on November 5. Additionally, Zero Parades: For Dead Spies is also receiving a free Director’s Cut update that adds tons of new and updated content. The Director’s Cut update will be available for existing owners on October 1, while PlayStation 5 owners will get all the Director’s Cut content at launch in November.

The launch of Disco Elysium back in 2019 kicked off a trend of narrative adventure games with complex political themes that attempted to emulate the style of ZA/UM’s debut title. In 2026 alone, two massive Disco-like games were released to critical acclaim: Esoteric Ebb and Zero Parades: For Dead Spies, the latter of which is the official next project from ZA/UM after Disco Elysium. Now, PS5 players will get to experience the follow-up to Disco Elysium when Zero Parades launches on November 3.

New Open-World Survival-Crafting PS5 Game Launches to Strong 4.58/5 Reviews

A new open-world survival-crafting game on PS5 launches to strong reviews (with added perks, too).

Zero Parades: For Dead Spies Comes to PS5 on November 3, Free Director’s Cut Update Announced

Following the initial release of Zero Parades: For Dead Spies on PC back in May of this year, developer ZA/UM is bringing its spy thriller narrative RPG to the PlayStation 5 in November. Despite Zero Parades launching to very positive reviews from Steam reviewers and sitting at an 83 critic score on OpenCritic, Zero Parades was not the commercial success that ZA/UM had hoped for, and the studio suffered a round of layoffs over the summer as a result. However, there is an opportunity for the game to find a new audience on the PS5.

Like Disco Elysium, players have near-total control over what kind of character they make the protagonist, Cascade, into. Zero Parades follows the story of Hershel Wilk, codename Cascade, on a mission gone wrong, where she must procure a team and all the necessary materials to complete her assignment without aid from the Operant Bureau. Rather than combat, situations are resolved through skill checks, and players can influence the outcomes of these skill checks by internalizing thoughts via the Conditioning system or by pushing Cascade’s fatigue, anxiety, and delirium to their limits in exchange for another dice roll via the Pressure and Exertion system.

New content in the Director’s Cut update for Zero Parades includes:

  • 40,000 words of new material
  • New Dramatic Encounter: the Quisach Roundabout
  • Backstage feature lets players view earlier versions of levels along with developer commentary
  • Ultrawide support
  • Controller remapping
  • Inventory sorting
  • Photosensitivity mode

Aside from the 40,000 words worth of new material coming in the Director’s Cut update, Zero Parades: For Dead Spies is also adding a new Dramatic Encounter focusing on the Quisach Roundabout area of Portofiro’s map. These Dramatic Encounters freeze time and force players to commit to a series of choices and skill checks where failure could drastically change the outcome of the story. The addition of this new Dramatic Encounter is said to make the Director’s Cut feel tangibly different than the original Zero Parades release.

Disco Elysium didn’t receive its Final Cut update until 2021, two years after the game initially launched. By comparison, Zero Parades is getting its “enhanced” update only six months after launch. Between the Director’s Cut update and its PS5 release, more players should get to experience the masterful storytelling of Zero Parades: For Dead Spies in the latter half of 2026.
