Bethesda is reportedly getting ready to officially announce the full title of its Skyrim sequel: The Elder Scrolls 6: Sentinel. The leaked title, assuming it is legitimate, will not come as a surprise to the most attentive of fans, as the online community had already guessed Bethesda would use the TES 6: Sentinel moniker over the summer.
The theory emerged on August 11, when Xbox CEO Asha Sharma said she had checked in on TES 6 that morning and experienced a “live playthrough” at Bethesda. Apart from praising the game’s “scale and grandeur,” she referred to it as “The Elder Scrolls VI: ********.” Assuming the number of asterisks accurately reflected the subtitle’s length, fans quickly landed on “Sentinel,” an eight-letter name belonging to one of Hammerfell’s major cities on the Iliac Bay, a region long suspected to be the setting of TES 6. The theory was further bolstered by the game’s rumored “Guardian” codename, considering it is a near-synonym for sentinel.

That popular theory will soon end up proven correct, according to The Verge’s Tom Warren. The industry insider reports that Bethesda is preparing to formally announce the title of its long-awaited open-world RPG, with unnamed sources familiar with the studio’s plans saying it will indeed be subtitled Sentinel. The reveal could reportedly arrive as early as November 2026, eight years and five months after TES 6 was first announced at the June 2026 edition of E3.
