It’s earned near-universal acclaim from various outlets, with some going as far as to say it is now the definitive way to experience Ocarina of Time. Considering the praise it’s earned, it’s no surprise that the Ocarina of Time remake has now found itself in the top 30 highest-rated games of all time list, giving Nintendo its 10th game in the lineup.

Now that the Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake reviews are in, we know how it stacks up compared to the other highest-rated games of all time. While late reviews may push its aggregate score in one direction or another, the Ocarina of Time remake is currently at position 27 on Metacritic, sandwiched between Half-Life and The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. It is the fifth Zelda game to crack the top 30, joined by The Wind Waker, Tears of the Kingdom, Breath of the Wild, and of course, the original Ocarina of Time, which has a likely insurmountable 99 overall rating.
This also means that, out of the top 30 highest-rated games of all time, Nintendo has published 10 of them. Other Nintendo games on the list include Super Mario Galaxy 2, Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime, Super Mario Odyssey, and GoldenEye 007. Perfect Dark was a Nintendo 64 exclusive and published by Rare, which was a second-party developer for Nintendo at the time of its release, so if you want to count it, that would bring Nintendo’s contributions up to 11/30.
The next big game release is Grand Theft Auto 6, scheduled to launch November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Rockstar also has serious representation in the top 30, with Grand Theft Auto 4 earning an astonishing 98 overall rating. Grand Theft Auto 5, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Grand Theft Auto 3 are also in the top 30, with three Rockstar titles featured in the top 10. Considering Rockstar’s track record, there’s a good chance GTA 6 will beat the Ocarina of Time remake and deliver an even higher score, but that remains to be seen.
It will definitely be interesting to see if the Ocarina of Time remake can hang on to its current title of highest-rated game of 2026. Regardless, gamers should be eating good this month, between GTA 6‘s November 19 release date and the now-available Ocarina of Time remake.
